Such a waste, grr. It's quite easy on the ears and I like bits and pieces of most of the songs (esp. Caffeine), but nothing really sticks. I'm going to blame the arrangements, lol: if they had slowed things down more at points and sped things up/made the instrumentation more interesting at others (Look At Me Now doesn't count since I couldn't sit through that more than once) it would have been much improved.

"NOTHING REALLY STICKS" So true, that's the only thing I can tell when listening to this album. Some bits of this or that song "tickle" my ears but nothing happens other than this.

i didn't know his voice sounded like this. it sounds like his voice is only at par with justin bieber's. while justin's voice is okay (nothing outstanding), i expected more from yoseob.

going with the coffee theme, this mini is more cafe latte than espresso. not enough kick, but it'll do the job.

Just curious, what did you think his voice sounded like and why? I am not a beast fan and haven't heard much of their stuff, but I've heard I remember, and unlike the poster below I don't think it misled me about his voice even if he isn't singing in the same way there as the songs I've listened to here thus far.

(Dafuq is "a caffeine", though. The song's catchy enough, but I don't know if I'll get over the engrish.)

(Of course beast is bigger than b.a.p, but would he have been better served by, say, ft. yongguk reciprocally or another rapper outside of his own group, to cast a wider net, or did they particularly want to cater to existing fans by featuring someone (or this particular someone) from his own group, or was this perhaps not a major consideration at all, it was probably just convenient?)

i had to listen again to fiction and it seems like this is his usual way of singing. i'm just not used to hearing him sing a full song. his voice has a light and airy quality to it that these songs didn't really showcase properly. and listening to caffeine again, it seems like the song would've sounded better if a woman sang it. his voice did sound good in even then i. i think it's the song that best showcased his singing.

but i think after giving this mini another listen, i'm just going to say that i'm not going to be a big fan of his solo songs. i still prefer hearing him sing with the other beast members. he's still one of the more stable and reliable vocalists in kpop now, though. i don't think i've ever heard him flub a note live.

as for junhyung, i don't even remember his raps. he's totally forgettable in the song. maybe yongguk would've done a better job. the contrast to yoseob's voice would probably make the rap more noticeable. simon d's would've probably been a good alternative, too. cube probably thought yoseob and junhyung is a good pair (and convenient for them). and that this would attract more beast fans if junhyung participated in the title song.

Finally listened to the last two tracks; I agree that Even Then I strikes me as right somehow, even if I don't care for it much. I think your "light and airy" translates to "kind of nasal" for me. XD;; It works better for me in smaller doses.

I thought Yoseob was, more or less, the visual? (Maybe I was misled by someone's bias in that.) But I'd think it would be more of a treat to have a bandmate feature than necessary to lure in beast fans, unless Yoseob is less popular within the fandom than without/he has antis because he's favored/something like that.

IDK what ya'll talking about. I like the mini album a lot :D Though the English phrases feel sort of awkward, the songs are good :) The first and fifth tracks are the best ones, imo. Caffeine might take a while to grow on me, but I'm looking forward to his performances on the music shows. :)

Have people always been this condemning? lol I must have been away from Omona for quite a while. While it's true that I'm not entirely satisfied with the album, his voice sounds great and I like how each song has its own style, rather than sounding all alike. Hope he does well during his promotions!

Although the songs don't blow me away or fire me up in the way that others have like Junsu or Sunggyu I still really like this mini. It has a very different feeling to it from most kpop around at the moment and I still adore how Yoseob's voice sounds when he's singing in this more mellow tone. I am a little sad there isn't something a bit more powerful in here but I will still find plenty to enjoy in here. It's an album for cold winter day snuggled up inside a blanket with a hot cup of tea :)

I don't know what Cube is doing. I felt the group was on top (at least, idol-world) and then complitely went down.
He has some good voice, but I don't know, something's not fitting. I'll blame on the songs ?

I had to listen to it twice. I like it a lot. I like belting Yoseob but we all know that's not good for the cords. It's a very lowkey mix.

I quite enjoyed the mini from the third song on. The first two, especially Caffeine just sound so B2ST and I was hoping to hear something more Yoseob colored instead. It's very Cube after all and very Junhyung. I really enjoy the songs after Caffeine, I like the smoothness they have and how relaxed they sound. It's not a bad mini at all, I can't help though thinking that Sunggyu's captured me as whole with all songs whereas I'd put only 4/6 of this on my phone.

It could have been better executed on production base, but then again I think Cube should fresh up that area of theirs anyway, because it has, similar to YG's latest sound for 2NE1 and Big Bang, become all the same to my ears in a way and I'd like the companies to bring out something new or less usual.
