Why YG Won’t Be Recruiting Anyone from “Super Star K 4″ This Year

One of the hottest entertainment agencies, YG Entertainment, has revealed that they will not be recruiting any contestants from this year’s “Super Star K 4.“

Sources from YG spoke with Star News on November 23 and said, “There were many talented contestants on this year’s ‘Super Star K 4.’ However, unfortunately, we did not find anyone who was eligible for YG this year for many reasons.”

The source revealed that there were two major reasons behind this decision.

First, two of the “Super Star K 2″ contestants, Kang Seung Yoon and Kim Eun Bi have yet to make their debut. So rather than recruiting new trainees from “Super Star K 4,” YG thought it would be best to focus on Kang Seung Yoon and Kim Eun Bi on their activities in the near future.

Kang Seung Yoon is looking at a debut in February of next year. Kim Eun Bi is looking to debut through a new girl group early next year as well. It is reported that CEO Yang Hyun Suk is working hard for these two artists at the moment.

The YG source continued, “I’ll say this again but there are so many talented ‘Super Star K 4′ contestants. But we thought it would be more important to focus on Kang Seung Yoon and Kim Eun Bi who have been training for the past two years for their debut. That is why we decided not to cast anyone this year.”

Furthermore, Lee Hi, who is recently receiving the limelight for her successful debut, will be releasing her first official album in December. 2NE1 and Big Bang‘s Taeyang will also be coming back with a new album in the near future as well.

The other reason for this decision is because Yang Hyun Suk is currently working as a “K-Pop Star 2” judge. Yang Hyun Suk is working with BoA and Park Jin Young as a judge for the second season straight.

Yang Hyun Suk has not favored variety TV appearances in the past. However, it is known that he has gotten quite fond of this show. It is also known that Yang Hyun Suk had even met up with viewers and fans of the show. After the first season of “K-Pop Star,” Yang Hyun Suk recruited Lee Hi, Lee Seung Hoon, Lee Michelle, Lee Jung Mi and Lee Seung Joo as well.

Therefore, not only is Yang Hyun Suk fulfilling the responsibilities of an audition judge, he is thinking about casting and developing the contestants of this show.

The YG source finally stated, “Although YG is not recruiting any ‘Super Star K 4′ contestants this year, the opportunities are always open in the future.”

He's such a micro-manager , BB wouldn't have 1/3 of the materials they have if YG were producing them all the time. The dude needs to delegate rather than always pushing everyone else back for the project of the moment.

If I was YG I would still try to sign Roy Kim and Jung Joon Young 'cause they could be basically debuted as soon as their albums/single are ready without any training and would make killing in CF deals and drama casting offers. However, his own show doesn't look too promising this year - I haven't seen yet anyone who I could see having commercial success in the long run as hallyui star as they seem to be casting people who would fit better into indie scene instead (apart maybe that pretty girl whom YG gave a wild card. I could see her being face of some girl group).

Roy Kim and Jung Junyoung are so debut-ready, any company would benefit so much from them. They're talented and good-looking enough that it's easy to package them as is and debut them now.

But I kinda want them not to debut in any Big 3 company.

Pretty much, and since Lee Hi is getting a solo album by the end of the year, I'm just going to assume it will be months after that before we hear anything from them. Either that or he debuts them without her, but going by the buzz she's generated on her own, I don't think that would make much sense. Her popularity would obviously be an asset to the group.

YG needs to stop putting his nose in all of his artists' businesses - yeah it's great that he's so invested but it makes their releasing stuff so much slower. Man doesn't have to have a hand in everything, he can just listen to the material and no one will bat an eyelash.

Personally, I'm glad that YG won't be taking anyone new from Superstar K4 - like the article says, Eunbi and Seungyoon need to come out first because I am bitter as fuck that neither of the two have actually debuted when Hayi debuted less than six months after signing.

To add to it all, YG has exactly 4 days before I jump ship - if 2NE1 do not come back this month, which is pretty obvious and disappointing, I am going to remain forever pressed and not be able to go into a YG post without in some way mentioning it. Heck, I'm getting plenty of practice as it is. I hate being a whiny fan, but good god does the man need to let 2NE1 out of the dungeons D:<

What everyone said. YG has turned into such a shitty company. They have so much talent under them but have no idea on how to manage that talent. It is so disappointing. It used to be good to be signed to them, now.... I don't think they are much better than SM in this. Too many talented people in the basement, being overshadowed by the same lot as well... If you are not Taeyang or GD or TOP, good luck...
YG should be removed as CEO. He is sabotaging the company in way. Wonder how possible this is...

The rudest thing about this article was that it was published on the day of the Super Star K4 finals. I know you have your own show, YG, but there's something called etiquette.

Also, manage your company better. GD comes out for the first time in three years and what do you do? Split a good album into two minis. Jackass.
