On November 7th NH Media, announced that following the BBC News report on the UKISS’ Peru concert, they received many offers to hold more concerts, including one in the UK.

A spokesperson for the agency said, “UKISS is currently arranging their schedule to hold an exclusive concert in Litchfield, Hampshire, UK.”

“Hallyu has been popular only in Asia so far but now it has spread all over the world through social network services like YouTube. Since U-Kiss members are good at speaking foreign languages and have over 100,000 fans abroad. The group will lead Hallyu in Asia, South America, and Europe.”

UKISS is also planning to hold concerts in Peru, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, and Columbia for the first time as a Korean singers early next year. This also marks the first non-London concert to be held in the UK.

Whilst I'm happy it's not in London, I'm still peeved it's not more central in the country. Hampshire is still right at the sodding bottom!

honestly, I know London's a big area for music, especially for international visitors, but so's Manchester. Heck, even Milton Keynes.

They're on in between the Bootleg Beatles and the Stoned Roses. Later, there's a blue comedian and a meat raffle. If they're lucky, it's be curry night, cos otherwise it's just toasties and pork scratchings.

This genuinely makes no sense to the point where I am sure it must be misreported. Litchfield, Hampshire, is a minuscule village - barely a bend in the road. There is nothing there. Lichfield (different spelling) in Staffordshire is bigger, but it's still a small town. Neither is a likely venue for anything more exciting than a local covers band. Unless they're playing at a school or something, neither is in any way likely.

Actually, it could be a private party if some kid is rich enough and cray enough to book them for a birthday or something, but otherwise it just doesn't make sense.

Not sure I want them to come to Brazil and perform for like, 100 people. I mean, their interest is cute but Junsu's concert flopped hard and it was freaking Junsu, I don't want to imagine how theirs would fare...

It might be in the middle of freaking nowhere but I find it annoying that fans whine for K-pop groups to go to their country then when they do plan to, fans get pressed it's not anywhere near them. For fuck's sake at least they're already in the same country as you, not halfway around the world. Make a little effort to see them just like how they made so much effort to see their fans.

Sorry about the rant but it's just something that's been bugging me for quite a while now.

Date: 2012-11-08 01:26 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] msdaccxx.livejournal.com
I don't think people are whining about having to make the effort. It more that they are incredulous that the alleged location of this event is in a place too small to have an actual venue in which it could take place. Litchfield in Hampshire just can't be possible as it is a very small village with a few thousand residents, no transport and no venue. It's beyond the middle of nowhere by a long way. Lichfield in Staffordshire is a small town of around 30,000 people and has one small theatre which has comedy nights, local drama productions, choirs, covers bands, children's events, things like that. Neither is remotely likely as a location for a kpop gig, even for a less well-known group. It just defies belief that either place could host this concert.

I really don't know how's the Kpop reception in London but UKiss' concert in Peru were quite successful, i think? 7000 fans (that is if the media reported it correctly) came despite the fact everyone was like, 'uhhh we think it's gonna flop since there's mubank in chile and yadda yadda' but the turnout actually surprised me! Hopefully the same will happen at their UK concert :) I really can't imagine the crowd there but yeah.... you never know....

7,000 people is easily ten times the population of Litchfield.

London would be plausible. CNBLUE easily sold out a 2,500 venue and Big Bang have just sold out 24,000 tickets over two nights at Wembley Arena. UKiss might be able to pull a crowd of around the same size as CNBLUE in London. Someone has made a big mistake if they think anyone is holding a concert in the tiny countryside village of Litchfield, though. Litchfield looks like this (https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&safe=off&client=safari&q=litchfield+hampshire&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x4874032585e2d433:0xc17825b6804d6685,Litchfield,+Hampshire&gl=uk&ei=yA2bULm2GInH0QWp8YGgDg&ved=0CHgQtgM).
