Remember the MYNAME

When MYNAME made their debut in October 2011, they were the most anticipated rookies of the year. None other than Hwanhee, a former member of the group “Fly to the Sky”, took the five members under his wing and trained them. So, one expected a lot of them as they released “Message”. Because “Message” was an upbeat pop-song, it quickly became a haunting melody, which was not easily forgotten.
It seemed like they created the basis for a successful career, but in comparison to many other rookies who already debuted, MYNAME didn’t manage to stand up to them. It was as if they were forgotten until they had their comeback in July with “Hello&Goodbye” and true to the title, shortly after they went to Japan to debut a second time. This time with much more success, the Japanese version of “Message” entered the top 10 of the charts, followed by “Summer Party” and “What’s Up”, two extra titles written for the Japanese market, and another translation of their Korean comeback-single in a few months.
Rankings measure a group by their success, but fans by their personality. While MYNAME proved that they are able to compete with their voices and dances with other groups, and also have another strong point in their talent for bboying, they could film each others daily life for a show called “Diary”, which was aired for several months, and show what kind of people they are. Ambitious, fun, serious, crazy, with the outstanding talent to entertain themselves and others by letting them be themselves, and furthermore complex.
MYNAME shows all these facets in the video interview, too, which was filmed at the end of October. It’s difficult to resist the charm of the five, who don’t get the attention and success they deserve and who, even though they went through phases of resignation, not only go on, but constantly improve, because they know they are now creating the basis for what they really want: A career, which gives them the freedom to not make music for the crowd, but music which has a meaning to them and shows who MYNAME really are.
