Lee Hi's debut single achieves an all-kill!

Lee Hi's debut song "1, 2, 3, 4" has swept 1st place on all the music charts.

The song reached #1 on all the main music charts such as Melon, Olleh, Soribada, Bugs, Mnet, Daum, Naver, Cyworld, and Monkey3 immediately upon release. Not only so, but her name was also #1 on the real-time search sites on various portal sites.

Lee Hi was the runner-up to SBS's "K-Pop Star", and signed with YG Entertainment. Her debut song is a retro soul genre that emphasize her deep, soulful voice. The song combines an addicting beat with Lee Hi's natural sense of rhythm and reinterprets soul music of the 1960s with a more modern filter.

in the mv she had a look in her face that was a mix of being afraid, not wanting to be there, not knowing what to do and wanting to poo.

Music-wise though, the song is pretty good and I like her voice. Her range/tone makes her sound like a baby Whale (of W & Whale) to me. In fact I can imagine this being a Duffy track or smth if it were in English. Shame she looks so awkward/out of place in this MV. I'm not even sure I can blame this on YG...they seem to have made a good MV (right budgeting, not TOO over the top) but Hayi just isn't working with they gave her.

Yay for her!! Really love the song - as i said in previous posts the song sounds fresh (for kpop) and its just perfect for Hayi. For those complaining about her awkwardness...just listen to the audio instead. It does wonders.

Um I think it's fine? I don't see what's so awkward or off about it. She's super laidback and passive even during kpop star and it's great to see her in diff looks. I'm glad she wasn't forced to lose like 30 pounds before debut, esp since YG was the one who kept shitting on her about her weight. I love the song and she's adorable. I hope she has a long career ahead of her. It's obvs she didn't get the intense training as her idol peers but I actually find her inexperience (camera faces, lipsyncing, etc.) to be adorable. :P I LOVE IT.

Her voice sounds like it could explode out of her, like you could give her a Whitney Houston song and she'd belt it into oblivion. I like her song, it reminds me of something Duffy or Adele would put out. But girl needs to work on her presence/expressions, she was not compelling and she didn't pull my attention. I can imagine loving her music and her voice but being bored to tears by her live performances.

this has to be one of the worst videos i've ever seen...like is she sick or does she just want her career to fail? or does YG not care at all that this is terrible? the lip syncing O.O omg...i can't even hear the song i'm too busy focusing on the fact that she looks like a 5 year old badly lip syncing for america's funniest home videos.

p.s. she'd be better as the raina of a YG group...ugly/awkward but can sing well...keep in the background except when being awkward.

JYP totally screwed her over putting her into a duo with that JYPE nugu (whose voice even if powerful isn't as beautiful as hers) and making her sing a typical Korean ballad instead of more western type of pop song she herself seems to prefer and which would have had more universal appeal.
