This article is an editorial talking about how Suzy is basically putting food on the table for JYP Entertainment with her popularity lately. The writer mentions that Park Jin Young's movie didn't do so well and 2PM is still recovering from their scandal with Nichkhun on top of miss A not living up to expectations with their recent comeback. 

Meanwhile, Suzy is still highly popular and much loved by the public, making headlines everywhere she goes and everything she does, etc, basically making her the sole breadwinner for the entire company.

It's looking dark for JYP this year.

Compared to SM and YG, JYP hasn't been advancing, but rather declining... So they are no longer a part of the 'Big 3'.

Lee Seung-gi and Suzy(?) cast in fantasy sageuk

Well you know I’m a happy camper if puppy’s back in dramaland. Lee Seung-gi (The King 2 Hearts) and Suzy (Big) have been cast in a new drama, a fantasy sageuk called Gu Family Book. That’s a rough estimate on the title, since we have no hanja to go on yet, but the Gu refers to gumiho, a mythical nine-tailed fox, almost always in mythology a woman. But this time, Seung-gi will be playing a half-gumiho / half-human. Seung-gi, isn’t going from gumiho’s boyfriend to gumiho-boy kinda retreading old ground?

It’s at least a sageuk, which means it’ll be completely different from the modern rom-comMy Girlfriend Is a Gumiho. I’ll just think of him as Miho and Dae-woong’s baby. The drama will be helmed by PD Shin Woo-chul, of Secret Garden, A Gentleman’s Dignity and writer Kang Eun-kyung of Baker King, Man of Honor, Dalja’s Spring.

Suzy is still “considering the role favorably.” There’s not much information on her character yet, just that she’s up for the heroine. Seung-gi has reportedly been attached to the project from the start, and has confirmed the lead role. All we know is that he’ll be playing a half-man-half-beast, in his first historical drama to date. I… cannot picture him with a mane of glory. Does not compute. In danger of fire hazard. You know I love the boy, but sometimes hair is his enemy. Can he be a half-gumiho who hides his true identity while living as a nobleman? ‘Cause pretty topknot with hat and hanbok sounds right up his alley.

I think it’s an adorable pairing, and while Suzy does leave some emoting to be desired, she’s better with every role, and I honestly just like her in everything. I dunno… she’s just plain likable. It probably helps that she’s played some funny characters, because comedy is her stronger suit. I hope there’s some funny to be had in this new show, because that’s my favorite mode for both these actors.

The series is aiming for an early 2013 broadcast, and is currently in talks with MBC for a time slot.

WG still do great on charts, I'm sure 2PM will do well too (tho I find them boring). But their new debuts have been lack luster, and Miss A comeback just didn't work out well for JYP, let's not forget with Suzy in the group.

But doesn't JYP make serious bank from all the Khun and Taec endorsements? I said it before and will say it again, JYP give us a Khun and Suzy unit like Troublemaker. It'll blow up the charts.

it depends really. as a group they are, but as individuals i believe that not anymore, taec and pre-scandal khun did earn more than her in the beginning opf teh year, but now i'm not so sure, she scored, i believe, 12 solo cfs, all that plus teh drama and movie money and variety appearances.

the only female idol who is making more money than suzy in korea right now is yoona.

It's sad that things aren't going so well for JYP. I didn't really like 15&'s (is that their name?) debut song, but I was loving JJ Project's mini - it was something I oculd jam to.

tbh, I do think JYP shipping the WG off to America fucked their careers over, but they still chart well so it's not that big an issue. However, with the way things are looking, I think Cube might end up dethroning JYP as one of the Big Three, because they are just getting bigger and bigger successes with each new release.

But that's just my take on things.

lol suzy is not their sole breadwinner. jyp is not going bankrupt. WG is bringing in money from their current tour, comeback and multiple festival appearances. Sohee alone made 600k this year, not counting her new CF deal with reebok, which yeah isn't a lot compared to other visuals but it's a far cry from a destitute picture. JJ and 15& may bring some losses but I still don't see it as a mistake, they are just rookies. JYP himself had his comeback too which did very well, not to mention he's the #1 songwriter this year when it comes to earned royalties. JYPs movie was not financed by JYPE so again, no losses. Is anyone really doubting 2pm will come back? they are not finished in any way lol. Their Japan single is already being hyped and khun's return has been planned.

i didn't think suzy would make it so big. she's bright and quirky, but in the beginning not as comfortable as others onscreen, and I thought she was more reserved on Invincible Youth at first. those first pics of her are adorable!

suzy is in demand right now because miss a just had a comeback. when 2pm come back they'll be in variety shows too. don't forget their group endorsements (after all, CFs are a big indicator of relevance in korea, a fact that people either don't know or wilfully ignore when they preach their 2pm IS DOOMED agenda) they have big ones with lotte, korea tourism and coke and smaller ones with coway and mr. pizza) idk about khun's solo cfs but in the group ones the companies just edit him out. if it was really dire, they'd drop the group like t-ara. they're also doing better than expected in japan. 2pm didn't fall apart in 2010 like everyone hoped and they won't fall apart now so you might as well stop hoping.

I think the article is refering to : Sunmi leaving, Wonder Girs disappearing in the States and losing popularity in Korea. But I don't fully agree ; maybe they've lost some popularity, but they still have a strong base. And it took them a lot of time to be noticed in the States as well, but they're starting to have some projects going on. It's like they're going slowly to build something.

I do agree that it hasn't been a good year for JYP, but nothing terrible here. I'm sure everyone forgot about Nickhun and 2PM comeback will be huge, especially after so many time. And 2AM will have one other beautiful ballad that Korea is gonna love, lol. They have potential to still be huge.
Wonder Girls might have lost popularity, but they still have a strong base. They won't grow any more, but I think they'll stay popular enough if they keep with quality released. And Sohee's still bringing money to JYP.

Did anyone listened to Suzy's videos ? Her voice isn't strong enough to cover Adele, but it was still lovely to hear, and she reached her notes pretty well.
