Song Joong Ki's new movie "A Werewolf Boy"

Synopsis
Summoned by an unexpected phone call, an elderly woman visits a cottage the way she used to when she was a young girl. She remembers a boy she knew half a century before. Moving to a peaceful village when she was a girl she discovered a “wolf boy,” hiding his large, contorted body in the darkness. The girl, now a woman, has never been able to purge the images of his wild eyes and animal-like behavior from her mind. She recalls teaching the boy how to wait patiently before a meal, how to wear clothes, how to speak, how to write and other human behaviors so that he could one day live like a normal man. She opened her heart to the innocent boy and he fell in love with the girl, the only person to ever show him affection. However when threatened, he let loose his bestial instincts and became the subject of the villagers’ fears. In order to save the life of the boy who risked his to be by her side, she left him with a promise: “Wait for me. I’ll come back for you.”

A Hong Sang Soo's like movie, "The Winter Of The Year Was Warm" by David Cho

photo258486
photo258487

Synopsis :
A filmmaker goes out to the countryside to get some rest every weekend while a nurse travels into Seoul during the same period to enjoy some culture. details the process of how and when they meet and become close. It's an entertaining story, and the dynamism formed by the characters, brought to life by Kim Tae-woo and Ye Ji-won, is equally entertaining. Although more emotional, romantic and positive, it recalls the films of Hong Sangsoo in its detailed descriptions of daily life and loose, episodic structure. The performances are unmannered, giving us the feeling we're casually watching lives unfold. And there's a self-reflective element to the film as well, one that reflects reality. The main character, the film director, is the alter ego of director Cho Sung-kyu, and the inside this film, , is his debut feature film. The cinema the nurse visits is SpongehouseKwanghwamoon, which director Cho currently administers. Is Hong's signature style a tonic
in the context of this film, or a poison? Ultimately that's up to audience to decide. (JEON Chanil)

Park Si Hoo's new movie "Confession Of Murder"
photo254681S

Synopsis :
Director Jeong Byeong-gil made his debut with action documentary "Action Boys" (2008), a film about stunt men who dream of becoming action stars. He is now moving onto feature films for the first time. This action thriller, with his stable performance, Jeong Jae- yeong takes on the roll of detective Choi Hyung-gu and popular TV drama star Park Si-hoo plays Lee Du-seok. After the statute of limitation expires on the murders he has committed, Lee Du-seok publishes an autobiography describing all his murders in great detail. Detective Choi, who investigated Lee's murders 15 years ago starts the chase once again and Han Ji-soo, who lost her daughter to Lee, pledges vengeance. Meanwhile, another killer appears, casting doubt to whether Lee is the real serial killer. The key here is how well the story juggles the truth and how solid the description of the characters' tangled relationships is. The film began production in January, and is scheduled to be released during the second half of the year.

Oh god autoplay killed my ears.

Confession of Murder sounds pretty interesting. Though right now I'm more interested in Kim Ki Duk's Pieta.

It's way too innocent a film to be a fanfic; I was surprised (but relieved) because I was afraid it would be a Twilight knockoff and it isn't. It was very sweet, and Song Joong Ki's acting was pretty good and not cheesy or cringe- inducing.

Have you seen the movie? How was it? I bet the movie make you feel depressed and sad when you leave the theater...

I agree, the story seemed too innocent to be a fanfic which is a very good thing.

Yes, I saw it (and The Thieves, finally) at the Toronto Int'l Film Festival. I liked it; plot wasn't terribly different from a drama, and it wasn't very horrorific/ gory. I do think Joong Ki looks more handsome in it than in Nice Guy. The end was actually the weakest part, but it doesn't end sadly.

Can you list down the films? I'm in a dire need to watch good Korean movies since the K-dramas this season has been kind of pale and boring..

Thank you!

I think I might check out The Thieves, Masquerade & Deranged. Architecture 101 bore me like no other -- I don't think I will ever watch the movie again even if someone pay me haha!

lolol before you watch the movie, you must chant to yourself 'HE'S JUST ACTING HE'S JUST ACTING' XD

if you manage to hate him, then that proves he IS a good actor ;)

The trailer got more words than the actual film haha!

By the way, Japan has made similar story with more or less same plot about a mother avenging the death of her daughter in Confession (Kokuhaku). Have you seen the movie? If not, you gotta watch it since the movie is simply brilliant! -- the plot, script and acting just simply top-notch. And the end gonna blow your mind away -- since it is simply breathtaking. :)

I SHALL WATCH IT!!!! hopefully 'don't cry mommy' is not replicating that movie or man, the originality is lost!! *googling movie right now*

I think 'A Werewolf Boy' gonna be such a dark, sad & tearjerker kind of movie -- and God knows I don't want/need to see Joongki in another depressed role (it's like watching Leo DiCaprio in Revolutionary Road & Shutter Island back to back :P). I guess the wolf boy still wait for the girl after all the years had passed -- it is such a sad life and I so know the movie gonna end terribly. :(

And I'm so excited to watch Confession of Murder. God knows how long I have waited for it. Park Shi Hoo's insane smiles give me many feelings. xD I guess I gotta enjoy his performance in this movie since he took up a romantic comedy role in his next drama which disappoint me greatly... :(

I'm interested in the Werewolf Boy and also Confessions of a Murder. Both sound and look really interesting. I'll keep my eyes out for them. (especially now that Netflix is picking up more k-movies/drama)

Autoplay and the trailers are also on repeat... :( Korean movies are what got me into Korean culture, so I'm really looking forward to more posts like this one, but I hope something can be done about the autoplay thing.

Back to the topic. Confession of Murder looks promising! I actually just saw Jeong Jae- yeong's performance in Moss the other day. The story reminds me of Issei Sagawa (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Issei_Sagawa), a japanese cannibal and later author, who has published books about the crime he committed to a dutch student while he was studying abroad in France.
