10/23 , Release of Epik High’s 7th Album [99]

This announcement provides you information on the release of Epik High’s 7th album [99].

Epik High, who have received so much love from fans by beloved songs such as 'FLY', 'FAN', 'LOVE LOVE LOVE', 'ONE', '우산', and '1분 1초’, are returning in 3 years with completely new styles.

As celebrating 9th year anniversary since debut, Epik High, who madly love number '9', have included 9 songs with various styles (plus one short tune) in the upcoming album.  Therefore Epik High’s 7th album has been entitled '99' and the title also embraces the meaning of the music of 99% people, not upper 1%.

'It’s Cold', a prereleased song that has recorded 'all-kill' in music charts by amazing voices of Epik High and Lee Hi prior to unveiling the album,
'UP', the title song that is a combination of Old school Hip Hop and Rock, and a unique 'power-combi’ work done by the collaboration of Epik High and Park Bom from 2NE1,
'DON’T HATE ME', a song that represents brave outsiders through Alternative Rock, as well as is the double title song promoting 'Anti-Hate' campaign,
'사랑한다면 해선 안될 말', talking about the regret of the past in a humorous way through 80’s Old Pop,
'아까워', a song through which Epik High’s rap and a mellow voice of 개코 from Dynamic Duo have 'street sensibility duel'on Beatbox
'비켜', a song, for Epik High’s true fans, that will be available on offline (CD) only,
'악당', a wicked song that shouts out it is better to be a wild bad boy than a dull hero
'Ghost', a gloomy tune
'KILL THIS LOVE', a dark, classical song projected through Electro and Dubstep sounds,
and to 'NEW BEAUTIFUL', a cheering song for 'people in a fringe group' who endures and live in inflexible society…
Likewise, Epik High’s 7th album [99] contains their various styles.

The color of Epik High’s music, which was turning calmer and darker and now after 'FLY' released in 2003, has now regained brightness and positiveness. Unfamiliar music genres from the past such as Alternative Rock, Brit Pop, Old Pop and Old School Hip Hop are reintroduced by Epik High through using their own color. You can also pre-order the album from YesAsia, kpoptown, or DVDheaven, will be probably cheaper that way too since YG has pretty high shipping costs for foreign countries.

I like both too, but I feel that [e] should have been just one CD with no fillers instead of two with some fillery feeling stuff. And while I like Epilogue I feel it somehow lacks the punch compared to some of their earlier albums. Like it's still very good, but still somehow pales in comparison to earlier ones.

lovescream and pieces part 1 are my favorite. Remapping the Human Soul is brilliant but is rather dark and quite heavy on rap. I recommend [e]. the latest album and also their independent album.

It's not as dark as stuff like Remapping, but it's still got that sort of lost and forlorn feel I think (esp being a Tukutz-less work), only the sound had evolved...which I was thrilled to see and hear. I think that album is worth its weight in gold if only for "Run", "Wordkill", "Fool", and "Over".
