JYJ selected as ambassadors for the ’2012 Korea Brand & Entertainment Expo’

The boys of JYJ have been named the ambassadors for the ‘2012 Korea Brand & Entertainment Expo (KBEE)‘.

This will be the third Korea Brand & Entertainment Expo and scheduled to be held from November 14th to 16th at the Osaka-Intex Exhibition Centre in Japan. This Expo is held in order to promote national Korean brands to various overseas businesses and corporations. ‘KBEE 2012′ is sponsored by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and supervised by the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) and the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA).

On appointing JYJ as ambassadors, KOTRA said, “JYJ have been selected as the ambassadors for ‘KBEE 2012′. We’re looking forward to them becoming the icon of exchange between Japan and Korea because they are Hallyu stars that are well loved in both countries.“

Well, I think this is official assignment from the government of South Korea. So it's more like an official-governmental event (? idk what it's called, but I hope you'll get the idea). I think Avex will have no say in this.

to say "loved in both countries" when they can barely appear nor have any of those associations back them up in korea rubs me the wrong way. I guess they're really just using JYJ for Japan..

Maybe. But changmin's movie is releasing in Japan too, I think press would be "encouraged" to talk about that instead.

They probably meant public love for them. They just can't go on variety and music shows because SME is strong in that industry. While the filming, drama, and musical continually backing these boys up. All the big stars don't mind them. Meanwhile in JP, public also wants to see them return, news stations as well, but no one can talk about them, because when they do, Avex will throw a lawsuit at them. While SME uses power in SK to block them, Avex uses lawsuits. Avex is not that powerful in JP, only way for them to block JYJ is the lawsuits and threats they throw out to whoever supports them.

I see it as free publicity. They are banned from most entertainment shows so this is a backdoor way to get on tv news and newspapers. Also helps them associate with powerful people like their connections with politicians and foreign dignitaries. Can't hurt.

It already has, their image has been boosted alot by their roles as Ambassadors. They've pretty shed the idol image at this point, the public likes JYJ even if Sm blocks them.

They have so many dramas/films, CF deals and ambassadorships, it keeps them in the public eye. I know they're not in variety shows or music programs but I get the sense that for the general Korean public, they see more of JYJ than most other idols who are not blocked.

Good for them. Being ambassadors doesn't seem like a bad thing at all. Especially if it gets them more exposure because they're blocked so much in the music field.

Ah, this news is finally confirmed, good for JYJ. I wonder if they'll appear for their opening/appointment ceremony or was it a mini-concert or something like that in Japan? Can't remember the details though >.<
