[MOD POST] Introducing 5 Points Pictures!

Hello it is I, TurdyFerg, bearing great tidings!

Back in May we received an email from The Right Stuf Inc. who has just established 5 Points Pictures, a new distributor of live-action films. Here's more about them:

5 Points Pictures is the live-action film distribution arm of Right Stuf, Inc., a firm with 25 years of experience in marketing Asian
entertainment to English-speaking audiences, via online retailer RightStuf.com and anime specialty label Nozomi Entertainment.
5 Points Pictures is dedicated to acquiring, introducing and distributing an eclectic array of live-action programming to North American audiences who demand both quality presentation and premier content.

Since then we have been ironing out the details and now we are happy to announce that we are now part of their press distribution list. What this means is that there will be more movie posts and more movie posts can mean..... more opportunities for giveaways! The details of that are coming soon :)

A few of us mods have received review copies of movies such as Finding Mr. Destiny, Tazza: The High Rollers, Moss, etc. Soon we will be posting monthly movie reviews and we would like to encourage you guys to participate the way we're most known for: sounding off on the comments section! We believe that by virtue of you all being active in the community by sharing ideas, thoughts, questions, even if there's disagreement it is one of the ways that we've gotten this far. Turns out we CAN help it that we're so popular. Our other request is that you refrain from sharing download links in the comments section out of respect to our new partners.

How do I get email notifications when a tag is used? I have it set up for a few tags, but I don't remember how to do it and google isn't helping me. thank you ;o;

if you're using the omona layout there's a Track This button underneath a post. then it will take you to "manage message settings." and then you'll see some options for you and one of them has a drop down where you can select the tags you want to be notified. and then you can tick off the delivery methods of your choosing.

As a movie buff who really likes discussing after watching a very intense movie, I'm totally excited for this.
Hopefully there is a large array of movies reviewed cause I'm certainly all over the film scene.

When the opportunity was presented to us we thought it would be cool to be able review movies (more original content on omona) and then give members a chance to win that movie or a poster if the review sparked their interest....

That definitely sounds more compelling than what I got from the information posted. I think original content on here would be awesome, especially if it's related to other aspects of Korean pop culture besides music.

I guess since it's an intro post to our new affiliate it could sound a bit commercially. Turdy was just tryin to get all the facts out so everyone knew what was up. The reviews will be more personable. I would actually prefer to be sent a digital copy of a movie to review (cause it would be a lot quicker) but I asked and I guess it's illegal to upload & distribute it to us that way. They have to send us promotional copies to be all legit.

So, does this mean that the only movie reviews will be from films which are distributed by 5PP and that the Omona team will be the sole reviewers of those films?

Since the start of omona we wanted members to feel free to submit a review of any movie just like album reviews. Hopefully not 100% stan style and craycray tho lol maybe if we made a !movie review tag and not a movie recommendation tag people might have seen it and been more encouraged to make those posts. I guess movie recommendation sounds more like it's going to always have to be a positive post. You can ask as many questions as you want :P

omona is 3rd place in general community ratings actually (it's on the profile page). if i had to venture a guess, it was to bring more visibility to 5PP and for more people to talk about korean movies. and i suppose, to make us more legit ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

the community rarely brings in movie news too so this would be a great opportunity to make stuff happen.
