The popular movie ‘Jeon Woo Chi’ will be made into a drama.
After much speculation the lead actors have been confirmed. As revealed last month Uee received an offer to star in this promising drama. It has now been officially confirmed that Uee will star in this drama as the lead female. Noted actor and singer Cha Tae-Hyun has been cast in the lead male role.
This story is based on a fantasy novel/folktale, so it’s not necessary an adaptation of the 2009 film bearing the same name. Same source material, similar aspects, but a different angle.
For those of you unfamiliar with the film, the plot revolves around a Taoist wizard (dosa) named Jeon Woo-chi who has been locked in a magic scroll for 500 years. Then the seal is broken and the impish Woo Chi is released into the modern world, where he fights goblins and monsters. And wreaks a little havoc of his own.
The drama sounds like it’s hewing closer to the original story, where Jeon Woo-chi is an inhabitant of Yuldo, a (fictional) ideal nation established by righteous bandit and Robin Hood, Hong Gil-dong. Woo-chi is a dosa who initially gains his powers by swallowing a gumiho fox bead. He travels to Joseon on a revenge mission, but when he sees the plight of the people there suffering under tyranny and famine, he develops into a hero. Sweet.
It’ll be a fusion sageuk, so no time-traveling or modern-day Seoul. Woo-chi’s character is trouble-making and mischievous, and the producers have stated their intention to include all kinds of colorful characters from the “bottom” of Joseon society: con artists, bandits, gisaengs, and more.
Attached are PD Kang Il-soo of Kingdom of the Wind and Emperor of the Sea; writer is Jo Myung-joo of King Gwanggaeto — so, lots of sageuk experience up in here. In any case, sounds like an interesting project with a fresh premise.
Jeon Woo Chi will start to air in November on KBS 2TV.

i'm so excited for this! but i do have to admit i'm a bit disappointed that joo won isn't the lead, i knew it was highly unlikely for him to pair up again with uee so soon and gaksital barely ended, but kbs doesn't seem to want to let him go so soon, and a few rumors said he was also being considerate for the drama. now i hope that tae hyun will mock joo won over the fact that he stole his woman and have jealous joo won.

Knowing Tae Hyun, he gonna tease Joo Won over the fact that he got the role haha!

i really hoped for him in the drama, especially because kbs really seem to want to make him their big star (they are still angry/bitter towards mbc claiming kim soo hyun's success).
and like you said, i love the joo woon and uee pairing, for their height (no standing boxes for uee! or manner legs!) and chemistry, from his leading ladies she was the girl he had most chemistry with, their infatuation towards each other was quite obvious, and i truly believe that they were/are dating. (they give me lee min ho and park min young vibes during bts and i was right about them back then).
and omg i hope he does, my fangirl self always hoped that the 2D1N guys would have teased him because the whole 'i would date uee' thing that was right around their first started filming, and i still hopped for any uee mention to see his reaction, but no luck XD

In 2D1N, the members did assembled according to height and Taehyun is the shortest while Joo Won is the second tallest only after SSK. So UEE must be way taller than him irl imo.
It's true that he seemed to have the most chemistry with UEE -- I honestly can't see him & Yujin as a couple since all I've been saying since early on is how old Yujin looked compared to him. Han Gain is older than Kim Soohyun by years but she still look compatible with him in TMTETS since they gave her lighter make-up and nice hair -- while Yujin in the other hand just look old since they put thick make-up on her and make her hair curly to make her look even more older than her real age. >.>
It will be awesome if they actually call UEE and asked her the question which member of 2D1N that she likes the best. I bet that her answer must be Cha Taehyun ahaha. xD It's true that they have amazing chemistry but I got the vibe that they didn't even contact each other after OB ended DX -- since Joo Won have been working nonstop since the last 2 years and he seemed to be a person that doesn't have a life outside his work tbh. I know he needs rest but I wish he will pick up new drama soon since watching him in 2D1N alone is certainly not enough.. >.

Date: 2012-09-20 09:09 pm (UTC)well, uee profiles say she is 1,73 but once on strong heart she said that online profiles always lie about her height, saying that while most idols get extra centimeters she always loses 2 or 3, so she is either 1,75 or 1,76. and tae hyun's profile says she is 1,75, but again, those often lie, i wouldn't be surprised if he was in fact a few centimeter shorter than that.
they not only got the most chemistry, but they got awfully close, uee is someone who takes a long time to become friends with someone, doesn't approach other easily or makes friends that easy, however with joo won things were completely different. they became friends, from changing cellphone numbers and etc, they also are university colleagues so that made them a lot closer. plus they couldn't stop shutting up about each other's talents and joo won seemed very protective of her. plus while watching OB you can see many times were they broke out of character and acted as joo won and uee instead of tae hee and ja eun. (like the scene where they are in the barn hiding from the parents, you can see the looks their share is totally not planed and that they weren't supposed to laugh, along with the snow date scenes you can hear joo won's laugh and not tae hee's, and many others).
i would die if that happened! it would be so awesome. plus it would give a reason for the hyungs mock the maknae. idk about that, i think that after that happy together episode, when they said they would date each other, their companies probably weren't too happy over it, joo won is one of the hottest rising actors right now, and uee is one of the most popular female idols along with one of the few who is seen seriously as an actress, so they told them to not mention that. they may not see each other much, but i do think they still keep contact. maybe i'm just delusional XD

Date: 2012-09-20 04:41 pm (UTC)Love the fact that they emphasis over the relationship between families over anything else -- I super love the relationship between the mum & her sons, the brothers with each other & the mother-daughter relationship between UEE and the ajumma. Plus, it also helped because UEE played a very nice, sweet, strong & likable character in here. She annoyed the hell out of me in YAB but she become one of my fave K-actresses because of her role in this drama. :)
