Koo publishes book on club culture

Koo Joon-yeop, the former half of the popular 90s K-pop dance duo Clon, has released his debut book on Korean club culture titled, "DJ Koo's Power Club."

Known as DJ Koo on the Korean club circuit, the book was made available to the public Tuesday during a book signing event that took place at Koobar which the singer-turned DJ also owns.

Known for being the unofficial ambassador and defender of club culture in Korea, Koo spent three months club-hopping in order to pen the book which is aimed at both club newbies and veterans alike.

Koo has stated that the impetus for the book came from his need to defend Korea's club culture after recent controversies of racy photos and reports of drug-fueled parties at clubs in the posh Gangnam district of Seoul surfaced.

According to Koo, "Clubs are places where music is there to be enjoyed while dancing and enjoying that moment" and added "this is why I love clubbing."

i've hated all the clubs i've been to in hollywood/LA, my favorite clubbing experience by far was in japan/korea

In my country there aren't much drunken people in electronic music clubs (opposite to normal night clubs with shitty American disco/RnB music) as it's considered very poor behaviour to be drunken in such occasions, plus you cannot dance well if you are drunk. At 4am when the clubs are closed here there are plenty of sweaty people though. But anyway the whole culture is totally different from normal night clubs - people are friendly, no annoying drunks, no assholes who try to pinch your ass, or people looking dates/one night stands, but just people who all just want to dance.

i club hop from time to time but i always go where they place actual DANCE music. i hate goin to clubs that play mostly hip hop music cause everyone in there is jus there to get the hook up and shit of that nature.

lol I enjoy a good club experience here and there. When I was a college I didn't go clubbing that often but when I did, I made sure to enjoy myself to the fullest with my girls. There's different types of clubs for everyone. Now that I'm older, I prefer to go to the 25 and older clubs here and there. Different atmosphere and much better than the ones that's for the 18 and over crowds.

I totally agree with you bb. It's sad that people see clubs as just a way to get the grind on (not that...it isn't fun..sometimes...>>) but I think just the experience of everyone clicking and coming together on one level is amazing and I don't mean through drugs. I think it's a great feeling to feel everyone around you and feel yourself enjoying the same thing regardless of what you look like, what you do, and where you come from. In a club its just one big night of fun and enjoying the real thing we came for...the music. <3
