Standing in front of fans live for the first time since the T-ara controversy, T-ara experienced the longest performance ever with no excitement from the audience.

On September 8, T-ara stood on stage at the 2012 World Conservation Congress K-Pop Nature+ Concert, where the members were unfortunately met with cold responses from fans.

As soon as the group took the stage, it’s said that some members of the audience turned off their glow sticks and refrained from cheering, creating the ‘black ocean.’ Fan accounts say that a group of fans started chanting, “Ryu Hwa Young,” referring to the T-ara member who was kicked out of the group earlier in August.

T-ara performed Sexy Love on Mnet’s M! Countdown and MBC’s Music Core a week before, but this was the first time performing its newest song live.

After the performance, the news of the ‘black ocean’ started seeping into online communities, where fans had a divide of opinions. Some said that the T-ara members made their comeback too soon, while others said the media was over exaggerating the event.

After its recent ”black ocean” performance in Jeju Island, T-ara’s Core Contents Media (CCM) has stepped forward to address the performance.

Originally, the T-ara members were said to have faced a chilly and silent response from the crowd at the 2012 World Conservation Congress K-Pop Nature + Concert on September 8 and was accused of only performing one song though T-ara was supposedly scheduled to perform four songs.

A representative for CCM stepped forward on September 10 saying that the truth had been distorted and that it was false the group was supposed to perform four songs that night. The representative insisted T-ara was supposed to perform two songs but as the concert went on too long, the group was only able to perform Sexy Love before having to rush to catch its flight to its next schedule.

The representative did acknowledge that the crowd’s reaction to the T-ara performance was largely subdued but insisted that the crowd was not purposely acting hostile or maliciously towards T-ara.

With T-ara’s comeback already hitting some major turbulence, all eyes are on the group to see how it will weather through the storm.

Netizens recently spotted a banner at Inha University congratulating their graduates at some achievements won like a current events competition.

On the side of the banner, they included (rather unflattering) photos of Eunjung and Jiyeon along with the message, "The ability to graduate and find a job is a difference in determination."

While there was a bit of applause at the end of their performance, I cannot deny the sheer deadness of the crowd in comparison to the way a usual crowd would behave, as well as the heckling before they appeared. However, I cannot stop laughing at both that 'statement,' and the banner. They even included the broken umbrella!
