E.via’s ‘Oppa is it ok if I do’ song deemed inappropriate for broadcast

Uljjang rapper E.via’s first album has been deemed as inappropriate for broadcast.

Her company said, “The title song has been banned from performing on KBS broadcast channel. Also the other songs from the album are also banned from other broadcast channels.”

According to a representative, KBS has banned the song on reason that the lyrics to the song contained lascivious content and also have many slangs. The album, with title song ‘Oppa is it ok if I do’ and 6 other songs in it, did not get through the KBS committee. And E.via had only recently debuted with this album. And after the release of the title song, it has received overwhelming responses on online music sites.

Meanwhile, E.via is set to attend the Hip hop player show on 11th in ApGooJung.

But on a more serious note, that censorship mess is so ridiculous at this point, considering the underground scene and hip hop's heavy influence on S. Korean youth. How long do they honestly have to keep playing by the book just to be on regular television and receive support the big mainstream artists get? Moreover it's preventing outsiders like me from catching up on interesting Korean hip-hop acts since i don't see them on the shows all the other groups and artists are on.
