Thor and Peeta unite against North Korean takeover

Hollywood's heart-throbs, Cris Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, and the Josh Peck, take on the roles of American teens fighting to take back their small town from North Korean occupation. Scheduled to arrive in theatres Nov. 21st, Red Dawn is a remake of the 1984 film of the same name. There has already been plenty of criticism aimed at the film, due to it's absurd fanciful premise and depiction of Koreans. The actors starring as the main North Korean characters, Will Yun Hee, Kenneth Choi, and Ron Yuan, are ironically all American-Asians. More surprisingly, the invading army was originally scripted as Chinese (PRC), until photos from the set of propoganda featuring People's Liberation Army symbols and script excerpts were leaked. The film's initial scheduled release, Nov. 24 2010, was scraped due the contreversy. Do you think the film should've been stalled for good?

I need to stop now before I go on a long-winded rant about how there aren't any Asian ppl in western films except for your stereotypical action film characters... and oh GOD don't get me started on the Chinese alarmism.

Well you don't have to be 100% PC to be a little nuanced... humanize the villains, show the dark points of the heroes and such. Something tells me that this is not that kind of movie, however. The trailer alone pisses stars and stripes.

I've been incredibly angry with this project from the get go, the invasion of the Asians scare going on is pretty pathetic. More alarmism garbage, NK have nothing to do with the US at all, ugh I can't.

NK is a threat technically due to its nuclear program, but no sane person is even entertaining the idea that NK could invade the US. this movie would make a hell lot more sense if they were invading S. Korea.
the real issue I have with it is that it was originally demonizing the Chinese. the Americans who spread misinformation and fear-mongering are the butthurt politicians and corporations who don't want to accept that the US no longer calls the shots in the world economy. (ppl just don't understand that the world changes, wether they like it or not.)

I think it wouldn't be so bad if they would have had Asian American roles in the movie so it wouldn't be so us "Americans" vs them "Asians" because unfortunately some people will take it as that.

OTish, I got bored and watch batleship and there is this scene were an alien spaceship with lots of weapons flies over one the US Aircraft carrier, and one of the guy reaction is "Oh I know it was the north korean"

I hope you're being sarcastic because while they might be the fastest growing minority (I wouldn't know), the fact is at the end of the day, they are a still a minority, and this is even with all "Asians" grouped together (ie, Chinese, Indian, Korean, Japanese, Filipinos, Thai and so many more). I hardly call immigration an invasion, especially when immigration is so controlled by the government.

I've already said to others why this movie is fucking offensive (and STUPID) as hell (but I think most of you all know) what I will say is, why the fuck is North Korea invading a small US town? Like even aside from the fact that NK has neither the resources nor man power to "invade" a huge and extremely well armed country like the US (NK is like a fraction of the United States size) but why oh why would they put ALL that effort into attacking a tiny US town that prob has barely any money, old infrastructure and mostly very little importance to the government and most of society. wouldnt they attack NYC? or Los Angeles? Washington DC? or some other big metropolitan city or directly attacking the government? Like this whole movie is such a giant logic fail on top of being racist as shit. Like but ofc its a small town cause thats "real" america and where all the honest to goodness "hardworking" white people are. Why would US viewers care if they attacked that den of sin that is *insert your favorite metropolitan and multicultural US city here*. ugh I cant decide if I hate this more or that movie about the thailand tsunami thats wait for it, starring a white family and their "inspiring" escape from adversity or wtf ever.
