Lee Joon-gi did it again and this time, the actor did it even before wrapping up his current TV series.
In a strong start to Korea's new drama season, "Tale of Arang" has been sold to Japan with a record-breaking sales amount that easily surpass the number set by this year's biggest hit, "Moon Embracing the Sun."
"What I can say is that this is even more surprising than the amazing record set by 'Moon Embracing the Sun'--100 million Korean won [about 882,000 in U.S. dollars] per episode," a PR official from MBC told the magazine Wednesday, refusing to reveal the exact amount.
Industry watchers assume Lee Joon-gi and Shin Min-a's starrer could have been measured up to 200 million won per episode, which makes the 20-part story worth a whopping number of 4 billion in total, around 3.5 million U.S. dollars.
Lee is one of the most wanted actors by TV and film producers, as not a few number of his previous works have been commercially successful in the country and other neighboring Asian countries as well.
Starting with the historical pic "The King and the Clown" (2005), the actor's film "Fly, Daddy, Fly" (2006), TV series "Iljimae" (SBS, 2008) and "Time Between Dog And Wolf” (MBC, 2007)" have all made a significant contribution not only to Lee's personal acting resume but to the producers.
Due to confidentiality reasons, the official said she cannot open up yet about which broadcaster and when "Tale of Arang" will air in Japan but did confirm it will take a while to seal the deal with the firm it is in negotiations with.

And the cinematography is so so beautiful.

Date: 2012-09-02 01:13 pm (UTC)And damn Shin Min-ah has crazy chemistry with all her drama leads. My feels for Min-ah/Junki is fast catching up to my feels for Min-ah/Seunggi.

Date: 2012-09-02 06:17 pm (UTC)right now i'm all about faith and may queen (as cliched as it is ;_; jaewon and jaehee come to mama)
i'm watching hana kimi remake to laugh at it. ~power point of love~
also i tried watching panda/hedgehog but i've never been more confused in my fucking life! it's only worth it to read the viki comments
"donghae is so hot"
"omg i'm marrying donghae"
"oh look it's my husband donghae"
"donghae is so cute when he counts"
"omg donghae is so cute when he runs"
"i wish donghae would ice me like he's icing that cake"
"donghae donghae donghae"
"i'm confused"
"stop complaining people!"
etc

Date: 2012-09-02 09:58 pm (UTC)I find AATM much much interesting since it has more mythology and it's quite mysterious.
TTBY is so boring, but that dorm leader is hot and I just wanna watch it for him. ;~; Ugh my life. Same goes for Panda. The main actress is a pain in the ass, tbh.

Date: 2012-09-03 01:07 am (UTC)one of ttby's greatest weaknesses is that there isn't the same amount of hot guys to distract me. sure, there are some great ones...but not enough. I NEED A WHOLE HAREM!
i'm more intrigued by the over the top virgin man in panda tbh...and how nothing makes sense in that drama.

Date: 2012-09-04 04:20 pm (UTC)i love may queen so far! i think it's the type of drama (like kim tak gu and shining inheritance) that is more popular in korea than international. it's kind of cliched, but ngl even tho i know what will happen this is my fav kind of kdrama!
jaehee won't appear until episode 9 i think tho! the child actors are staying on until episode 8. the child actors are brilliant however :)

Date: 2012-09-05 07:44 pm (UTC)I love Kim Tak Gu esp the ending! It's my first time watching a Kdrama that the second lead ends up with the first female lead. I flipped watching the ending and love the drama for dare to be different from the other stereotype Kdramas. :DD I watched it ages ago but I still remember the glorious ending. :D

Date: 2012-09-02 10:42 pm (UTC)So I guess watching panda/hedgehog is a bad recommendation???

Date: 2012-09-03 12:54 am (UTC)i kind of enjoyed the beginning of moon/sun, but after awhile i got irritated because it felt like the drama had very little actual substance and character richness.
i came into faith expecting to hate it (not a lee min ho fan), without even knowing anything about it. but i've loved every second of it so far! i watched the first couple of episodes without reading up on people's reactions to it, and it shocked me to later hear how much problems people had with it. oh well, different tastes i guess!
well...i honestly have no idea what the fuck is going on in panda/hedgehog. so...i can't really say the drama is bad, but idk donghae is pretty? like i literally understand nothing. the lead actress looks like jang nara. the second male lead is a virgin (literally a pure and innocent never seen a lady's hooha virgin) ceo. there are cakes.

Date: 2012-09-03 02:15 am (UTC)ngl though, I really am only watching the drama for Donghae and the cakes. And the ceo's sister who calls everyone hyung and noona. She's so cool~

Date: 2012-09-04 02:32 am (UTC)ngl, I enjoyed the drama and I thought Soo Hyun performance is really excellent (though not to the point of winning the Baeksang awards imo) and I like how he keeps to his words and punished all the bad guys in the end. If you are familiar in historical dramas, bad guys always kinda win in the end and the title character always end up dying/sad.
I already expect Yangmyung to die from earlier on so it is not that surprise to me tbh. Kdramas always feel the need to kill off characters to give a better impact on the drama -- though it's dumb and unnecessary, I already get used to it.. :P

Date: 2012-09-03 01:10 am (UTC)exactly. why did he sacrifice himself?! i watched 20 hours of moon/sun but i still felt like i knew nothing about these characters by the end of it. not one of them was written with any kind of consistency.
