I don't care about their japanese sales anymore, they are flops there but their songs are AMAZING, so people should just feel bad for not buying it :P Lovely performance.
um there are a lot of acts that flop there (secret, afterschool, beg) but there's still quite a bit that sell well. 2pm, t-ara, infinite, mblaq, and suju are some of the groups that have sold consistently well. b1a4 & boyfriend who just recently debut are charting well too. now that i think about it, it seems like girl groups don't catch on as well as boys do in japan.
yeah i didn't include those two cus they were givens. 2pm's been focused on japanese promos for the past year so it's not strange to see them doing well. in suju's case, it's probably just japanese elfs cus they're everywhere.
lol after shcool is hardly a flop, they may not have done as well as soshi or kara, but they are doing better than most korean girl groups in japan, better than 4minute actually, seeing that AS scored big cfs in japan and such.
hmm everyone does better than 4minute in japan tho. afterschool is just getting by imo. barely 15k per single is hardly a success when avex is pushing them like crazy with billboards & ads & even a collab with THE amuro namie....
they may not sell like crazy, but they are steady and even not charting high in their first weeks and etc they sell good enough, plus they have a small and solid fanbase there.
even with the avex pushing the advertisers wouldn't want AS if they weren't interested or believe that would be some sort of return, hello kitty wouldn't connect their brand with them, they wouldn't be in so many magazines and etc.
plus who chose after school was namie herself, she already had plans to collab with a korean girl group, but she was a huge fan of uee on YAB that she contacted pledis, heck, it was because of namie that they got avex, not because of avex that they got to collab with namie.
going from selling 40k to 20k down to 14k is far from steady. their japanese career is a lot like their korean one: lots of pushing from the company with activities all across the board that just never seem to catch on whatsoever. AS will always be a lower tier group, it just seems like they can't catch a break.
i never once they said they were part of the big leagues or would become part of it, honestly, pledis lost their opportunity a long time ago, and unless some sort of miracle happens i don’t see it changing so soon.
but they have steady with their endeavors, they may not sell a lot, but when have they? but they are not doing so terrible, they are doing good enough to give them a good return and good promotional vehicle, and since way promoting the girls in different activities is a bad thing when most of the other companies do the same? if the group as a whole is not bringing a lot of income they do the right thing in place the girls in different activities.
my whole point was that they may not be a hit, but that doesn't make them a failure either, when many girl groups out there have not even accomplished half of AS has, in both korea and japan, and wished to be 'flops' like them.
i really liked their performance. their suits look great.
it's just unfortunate that they're not doing that great. i wonder why because they have a japanese single instead of a remake. hopefully they'll hit it big there soon.
