After voluntarily restricting his newest single That XX to Rated-R, Big Bang’s G-Dragon will be releasing a censored version of the same song for the music video.

On August 31, YG Entertainment stated, “We decided to solve the problems in the lyrics of That XX with censored beeps.”

The new version with censorship, solely created for the music video, will allow the audience of 15 and older to watch the anticipated footage. The song, however, will be released in the music market as is with the 19 and older rating, since changing the song lyrics affects the artist’s creative license.

G-Dragon’s upcoming solo album has been gaining much attention, not just for its unique style and rated-R songs, but also the way it is being released. G-Dragon unveiled the music video for One of a Kind on August 25, but has not released the track anywhere.

With YG Entertainment known for its unique ways of promotions, people are looking on to see what new styles G-Dragon’s comeback will bring. Meanwhile, YG Entertainment unveiled one of its trainees, Jennie Kim, who will also be starring in G-Dragon’s new music video. Her practice video of charismatic rapping was also censored out due to profanities.

G-Dragon’s new single That XX will be released on September 1.

Will we ever get to see the original without the censoring?

Pretty sure some fan will edit it right away if YG won't.

I hope they release two versions one cencored and one uncencored. Doesn't yg know that you can restrict viewing in youtube?

It's Kpop, how bad could the lyrics be.

But YG don't think they are Kpop tho. So who knows

I wasn't paying that close attention, but I think they were bleeping out the word that basically means "son of a bitch". Not a big swear in English, but in Korean it's considered kinda bad.

Isn't Sept. 1st like now.... why the delay YG.

I kinda wish he had to bleep out a stupid word just so the censors/netizens can see how ridiculous some of their restrictions are.

What i don't get is why make the MV suitable for 15+ if they can't buy it in the end.

Is buying restrictions even enforced in Korea, cos in Canada growing up i could buy all the restricted albums I wanted as a young teen.

They can probably still buy it. No reason to think their parents can stop them if they can't stop gaming addictions or the excessive spending stalking requires.

Also I think it's so they can promote on music shows. It will probably be bleeped like that when performed live.

somehow i feel like this is YG being a rebel, and saying to the korean media/censorship people like, 'hey, sure, we'll censor our songs and stuff according to regulations - so all you'll get is a beep song'. at least this is what i think.

but someone should teach YG how to do age restriction on YT, so we'll get the un-beeped version along with the MV. or else i'll end up playing the vid on mute while listening to the song.

why is he such a tryhard omg

From: [identity profile] shintotchi.livejournal.com
Why is he a tryhard if he curses two or three times? Cursing can emphasize the emotion of a song and even make it better.

emotions? in a k-pop song? LOL

Yes. Lyrics are usually written like a poem. Some of the songs are definitely nonsensical fun, but some are actually telling a story. The lyrics for XX are telling a story. I looked them up, and the bleeped part is something that adds to the song rather than takes away.

well i just read the translation of that xx and it didn't impress me at all lol sorry

when it comes to nice lyrics i definitely prefer listening to k-indie or (true) musicians who write their own lyrics

If he wrote the lyrics, then it's an expression of himself. And he helped write the lyrics along with teddy. I didn't say they were deep. I said they were expressing himself. Even if GD didn't write the lyrics, someone sat up and wrote them. Someone who loved expressing themselves so much they made a job of it. Pop is usually not long lasting, as the very word implies, but that does not mean it can't express emotion. Maybe it's just emotion you can't connect with because you only view it as superficial.

I actually like the beeps, it adds something to the song. It's more kitschy and purposeful than the muting we do here in the states. Plus it makes a statement, kinda.

beeps or not i'll still be listening to one of a kind more
