OT though maybe not that much considering Hyuna was in the MV but WOW is Gangnam Style seriously #1 on the YouTube 100 right now. This is nuts. I'm really hoping this momentum keeps up. At first I was like "ehhhhhhh idgi" but now I'm like "ehhhhhhh sexy laaadyyy!!". lol. Yes I know I'm late. I have an aversion to hype.
Maybe Bubble Pop will retroactively become popular next?
Bubble Pop already had a lot of views tho. It won some Google/Youtube kpop Award along with 2NE1's I am the Best and Super Junior last year for the number of views. Plus it popped up on a bunch of non-kpop music blogs. Some of them were posted here. TBH I don't think Gangnam style being popular has to do with Hyuna unless you were being sarcastic. It's more about a catchy song with a wacky/fun video. I mean most people when referencing the video talk about Psy and not her.
Oh no, I don't think Hyuna's the reason Gangnam Style became popular at all. I'm just saying that now that it IS popular and she's in it, maybe people will become curious and Bubble Pop will gain retroactive attention. So, the opposite line of thinking.
All those songs did well on a K-pop scale (hence..kpop award) but Gangam Style is just astronomical right now. And yes, I agree, it's because it is unpretentious, silly and different.
