“Bridal Mask” Production Team Not Happy With Jin Se Yeon’s Decision To Join “Five Fingers”

In the middle of the shocking decision to choose currently airing KBS Wednesday-Thursday drama “Bridal Mask” female lead Jin Se Yeon, who is still shooting for the drama, over T-ara member Eunjung for the female lead role in SBS drama “Five Fingers,” it has come out that KBS is not happy with such a decision and cannot understand such a decision.

On August 23, “Bridal Mask” drama producer Lee Geon Jun said that, “It is ridiculous and unheard of for a mini-series drama female lead, while the drama is still broadcasting, to be splitting her time appearing in another drama.”

The “Bridal Mask” drama production’s concern is that as the two dramas’ shooting schedules overlap, at a critical point in shooting, the busy drama “Bridal Mask” might suffer some harm.

The female lead role of Oh Mok Dan cannot not be a big role, and with the coming of the final episode of the drama “Bridal Mask” on September 6 which will hit the drama’s climax, the drama production is worried that Jin Se Yeon’s focus and attention will not be on drama “Bridal Mask” but on the other drama she is shooting.

Producer Lee Geon Jun further commented that, “It is not our position that for the actress to shoot another drama at the same time, that she must get our permission. As long as the actress does not harm our drama, there is no obligation to stop her. But, at the last moment, in this busy situation, for the female lead actress to shoot another drama, it is clearly harmful to the drama.”

MBC's Thousandth Man producer tweets about SBS's decision to drop T-ara's Eunjung due to issues with sponsors

"To drama producers, issues of production sponsorship, product placement, etc are no doubt important, but to tamper with the drama’s plan for these issues is not the way. A production that succeeds relying on despicable things, is very muddled. Although the production sponsorship for The Thousandth Man is zero ㅠ I will not give up. Money is something that you will have when you work harder."

What is this whole scandal? Is she actually a bully?

personally i'm just worried jin se yeon will suffer from exhaustion. she's going from gaksital, not exactly the fluffiest of dramas, to another drama that also seems to be fairly intense and emotional. it's not like she's doing a fluffy romcom whilst doing a drama. watching gaksital is already emotionally draining imagine filming it.

i mean joo won does 1n2d and gaksital at the same time and has said before that he only gets like 30 mins of sleep but she shouldn't be following his footsteps since that sort of schedule is insane.

Eh, isn't there only two weeks of Bridal Mask left? What's the big deal? Granted, it is the finale, but still...

they are probably just afraid of this stealing their thunder/getting attention away from them.

dude, gaksital is ending, they have very few episodes to shoot, i hardly believe that it would get in the way of their filming, plus the only one i'm worried about is jin se yun's health.

and it can be done, rainie yang filmed two dramas at once, and she was the star of the drama, not the female lead, the star aka the one with most scenes, and she was able to handle it just fine, even if she got super tired.

they are just pressed that she wont be showing exclusively on their channel, they showed their point with this:

It is ridiculous and unheard of for a mini-series drama female lead, while the drama is still broadcasting, to be splitting her time appearing in another drama.

anyway i'm excited with her being in the drama, way more than i was with eunjung (before the scandal even broke out) and i feel like she'll do a great job.

and while good for the mbc pd to say that and be like that he is not the one to judge, especially when many people are struggling to earn they money right now and depend of five fingers. and who says they are not working hard to get the sponsors money? i hate this kind of attitude, it was very 'levels of determination' of him. plus hyomin's part on his drama is not nearly as big as eunjung's on five fingers, hyomin image wasn't directly connected with the drama. if a thousand man is sold to other countries her name won't be in the billing as the stars, eunjung's would.

yes sbs was shady with the way they handled it, but I don’t think they are heartless as they are making it to be.

Ah, this is a good critique - rereading the MBC PD's comment, it reminds me of 'societally acceptable suffering' that often goes on in these types of industries, while completely discounting other aspects. Food for thought.

i hate when people think that going for money = working easy or not hard enough and that not measuring up to others expectations can be seen as you not giving your best.

Although the drama will end in 2 weeks time, live filming is no joke and can be very demanding. Like for instance, Park Shi Hoo and Moon Chae Won filmed the last scene of 'The Princess Man' on the day of the final episode. Can you imagine how tight the schedule is?

I doubt it is because they want her exclusively on their channel but rather they afraid if she can't manage her time filming both of the dramas -- since she might fall sick while trying to fulfilled both of her commitments.

i am aware of the insane routine of the korean live shooting. but honestly, to me they are not even worried about her health or their filming being damaged somehow (dami won't appear much in her first episodes and her part won't be too demanding so far and they are still in the childhood part, plus i’ll be naïve and truly believe that she wouldn’t take it if she wasn’t able to handle it) but the fact that they have to share their hot star with another broadcasting company.

Is she really the hot star right now? Gaksital is her first drama that I watched and I find her acting rather decent and average. I hope the writer stop making her as the weakness of Gaksital and show that she can kick some ass too (I would love to see her beat Shunji / Rie / any imperial soldiers though it's kinda impossible). Her character keeps making foolish decision like wandering everywhere while everyone knows her face and wanted to capture her. I mean, 'Mok Dan, unless you do plastic surgery and change your whole face, it is not wise of you to go out freely when you're in a wanted list.' >.>

she is no where huge but she is a hot topic rn and scoring some ads, korea seems to love mok dan and and she seems to be one of the young actress to watch rn. plus she is a rookie who wants to keep working it is probably easier to score her than some other actress and drag her into the mess.

The first thing that come to my mind when Jin Se Yeon being casted to replace Eun Jung is how on earth she is going to manage both of the dramas -- esp when Gaksital will reached its climax and ended in the two weeks time. I don't think its wise of her to pick up another drama along the way. Like the poster above said; 'Watching Gaksital is already emotionally draining' (I flipped couple of times in every episode lol, I wonder why the writer decided to put the audiences in panic state all the times XD), let alone filming it -- though I got to admit that all the hardwork part seemed to fall on Joo Won's shoulder above anyone else.

Till today, it boggles my mind how Joo Won managed to film both Gaksital & 1 Night 2 Days without obvious sign of exhaustion. I swear, after his big break in 'Baker King, Tak Gu', he has yet to have a long rest and keep filming one drama after another. Not that I'm complaining though -- its always nice seeing him so active everywhere. :D

Poor him ;__;

I know! (though its more like overload of cuteness for me xD) T____T I expect him to doze off here and there during filming 2 Days 1 Night but he seemed to hold himself well despite the crazy schedule. 2D1N activities are crazy, if I were in his situation, I will be constantly tired and lifeless -- they constantly moving, competing, being punished and etc.. It's totally crazy. >.>

I love the scene above, all of them are relaxing together and sleeping until Jongmin decided to harmonize the song that they're singing softly to a whole new level that wake everyone up from their sleep -- but poor Joo Won didn't wake up at all despite the noise.. You know how exhausted he is... T^T

Yes actually it's hella cute to me too lol not to mention he was sleep hugging (is this even a word lol) that ajusshi ;o; But looking at his face I just couldn't stop thinking "Aww omg he must be really damn tired".

If I was Gaksital I'd be side eying the hell out of Jin Se Yeon too though...they are on a live shoot system I'm pretty sure. The girl will be living on IV drips. That drama is PURE CRAZY anyway.

Frankly I cannot believe she was willing to step in...but she is like 18 so maybe she thinks she can handle it. Although JJH is like 30 and JCW is like 23 or 24 so the age difference is kind of awkward. Joo Won is only 25 and I still find them awkward on Gaksital

she is hot commodity right now and she would appeal to a wide audience as well bring endorsers, plus i can see them trying to get themselves some of the gaksital magic.

It is exactly my thought when I read the news. It is not like she is the only actress available right now. And to imagine she's going to have love triangle with both JCW and JJH is kind of awkward since JJH is like more than 10 years older than her.

But like lysblack said, SBS probably wants the Gaksital effect on the drama too which explain their rush decision..

Yes, she's 19 though the good thing is, she didn't look like one. SK actresses start really early -- Lee Dae Hee for example acted in Green Rose at the age of 19 against Goo Soo who is nearing 30 at that time. The drama was great and not that awkward since they seemed to suit each other.

I don't think she is that popular because of Gaksital since most of the light seemed to fall on Joo Won's amazing portrayal as the man behind the mask and Shunji, his bestfriend. She has her moments but since the drama is not exactly focusing on her but rather the storyline of fighting for freedom, so it's hard to say. But she's among the new & upcoming actresses right now.

You should watch the drama if you can. Since the drama is purely awesome and full of angst. No doubt my fave this year despite the overflowing of good dramas this year. Like I said in my comment above, I flipped couple of times in every damn episode. XD The acting is great and the storyline will put you on the edge for it's captivating & suspense plots. If you love City Hunter, you gonna love this drama too. While Lee Min Ho character in City Hunter think before he acts, Joo Won in the other hand act on impulse thus making you all going crazy watching him haha!

lol you think she's a better actress than park ki woong and joo won? are we even talking about the same drama here?

lol ikr? I'm more than certain that Joo Won is the leading candidate for Male Top Acting Award for KBS Drama Awards this year and PKW's as Shunji is amazing! I hated his despicable facial expressions so much that I feel the urge to censor/mosaic his face everytime he appear on screen lol. XD

i don't know what standards you're using to judge but hers is much more natural than those two. joowon is tolerable but park ki woong's acting has gotten worse. shunji started out ok, but evil!shunji does not suit him at all. both of them suffer from a serious case of overacting. joowon needs to stop relying on his eyebrows to act and park ki woong's frustrated screaming is unconvincingly hilarious.

:| PKW's acting is perfectly fine... even more than fine since i feel the need to stab the crap out of Shunji whenever he comes onscreen! Also "joowon is tolerable" WHAT??? without JW as Lee Kang To(Gaksiiiital) this drama would have been mediocre at best~~
Everyones acting in this drama even the supporting cast has been excellent. I don't understand why people are talking trash about Jin Se Yeon's acting... I mean personally i don't like Mok Dan's character one bit (Shunji can have her all he wants LOL)... I much prefer Kang To/Ueno Rie. I love love love Han Chae Ah in Gaksital... she is such a badass and also somehow endearing and sweet <3

I'm watching this new drama for JJH... but best of luck to Jin Se Yeon :) Also... wtf is up with the prono name for this drama.... Five Fingers...

what are they complaining about JSY's acting may i ask? among those i know who are watching gaksital, PKW's acting is the most problematic for them. it's too OTT, which doesn't gel with the rest of the cast.

i like Kangto and Ueno Rie too, actually.

I can see why he's upset, the news was very sudden and now they need to plan around when the lead actress isn't as available shoot for the grand finish. It just adds pressure to an already hectic shooting system.
I don't know the synopsis for Five Fingers but I haven't expected a great deal of scenes to include her for the rest of Gaksital, as the focus is not on her.

I'm sure she wouldn't have agreed if she hadn't have time to film. Like maybe SBS has agreed to film all her scenes on few of her first episodes on one day which happens to be her day off or something. I think KBS is just pissed 'cause she's appearing in rival network's drama.

Also that MBC producer is a hypocrite as his own drama's financing isn't relying on sponsors etc. It's pretty hard to film if your budget is suddenly cut in half 'cause sponsors leave.
