One of the worst things that could possibly happen while traveling abroad is to get your passports stolen, and unfortunately for Big Bang, that is exactly what happened.

According to several Japanese news media on August 15, thieves broke into Big Bang’s car in Tokyo and took Daesung and Seungri′s bags, which had their personal items as well as their passports inside.

The report then went onto say that the theft was discovered when managers returned to the car five hours after leaving the car only to find the windows broken.

Police are currently investigating the theft as it could lead to the personal information of the Big Bang members to be exposed to the public.

Sueng-Chan's Diary:
Today, I had photo shoots for 4 different magazines and then a meeting for a TV show. In between, I had a little extra time and I went to Ebisu Garden. This is the statue in Hana Yori Dango where Domyouji waited for Makino! Because I'm an impatient person, I don't really like waiting but if the girl is as cute as Makino, I won't mind waiting for hours!! (lol this greaseball)

After that, I had a meeting for SSTV Seung-chan's Complete Declaration of Victory! We made a really good plan. Please look forward to it! Then I had meeting for V.I's Fan Meetings! This is going to be different from other events you've seen before. This time, it's 70% comedy and 30% singing! I will sing many songs too! Have you heard about Yoshimoto Sunki Geki? wwwwwwwwwwwwwww I'll definitely make you laugh!

Anyway, there are still many TV shows meeting waiting for me... This is great! ^_^ Because I'm so popular! And then my passport.. It's okay.. ^^ I was shocked at first, but it can't be helped. Both companies in Korea and Japan are working really hard to get new passports for us, so don't worry! That's all. Good night. (=´∀`)人(´∀`=)

that really sucks :/ don't know how it works in korea/japan, but over here, most people have the common sense not to leave anything that could draw attention in the car.

I would agree and back in the States, I make sure to take all my personal belongings with me and nothing's left out in my car. However, after living in Korea for a year (and I'm far from being an expert on this), I have to say that people there... aren't quite the same.

I remember going to the doctor one day and when the guy next to me was called, he left his man purse (with laptop and who knows what else) right next to me as he went in to see the doctor. O_o Over there, you can leave the purse when you go to the bathroom. It seems a lot more safe, but I also heard of many bike thefts, so I guess it depends...

It honestly depends. Like in my Uni library (UK) everyone leaves their stuff everywhere. Like one kid went to have lunch while his laptop and belongings were strewn all over a table. I've left my bag countless times while I've gone outside the building and basically it never gets stolen. But really it's not safe, leaving your passport somewhere is kinda dumb tbh.

It's funny because at my uni they would put signs everywhere not to leave your stuff unattended so then people would ask me/complete strangers to watch their shit. LOL

I do that...I usually ask people I know, but I've been known to ask strangers to look after things for me before.

same here. no one asks to stand watch though, it's like everybody for themselves lol

only time I feel comfortable leaving my stuff is during class.

lol, same at the university i went to and there's even a "if you snooze, you lose (because you may get your stuff stolen)" type of signs around the libraries. >___< though i have to admit that i've asked people studying at the library once or twice before to watch over my stuff while i went to the bathroom...

People leave their stuff at my uni (also UK). Usually I would leave my books and pens to reserve my seat, but grab my laptop and valuables to take with me. Though I think I am the only one who does that. Growing up in South Africa it even makes me nervous to leave my books unattended so idk how people can leave valuable stuff lying around. Lots of people at my old uni did the awkward asking a stranger to watch their stuff but for some reason at my uni now no one does that.

it's the same in France

I noticed the same too. Like people would leave their cars running with a door still open while they went somewhere. Over here you know that car would be jacked.

Yeah my Korean tutor told me she's gone there and there are drunk people out in the streets at night with their wallets out and no one ever steals it.

I guess it's different in JP/KR. I was in Seoul last year and had met up with a Korean friend (born and raised in Seoul), and when we went for dinner we went inside the restaurant where it was really crowed and there was 1 table free and she was like 'let's sit here' and she just put her bag on the table and wanted to go order. And I was like 'ok I'll just wait here till you're back and then order mine' and she looked at me like 'O.o.. why'? And I said I'd look for her bag while she ordered.. She said that was unnecessary and that no one there does that. So I put my bag on the table too and went to order with her. lmaooo. I kept looking at our bags while we were in line though.. haha >.

No one will take the bag in Korea or Japan in such a situation (unless ur really gigantically unlucky). When you have people around, it's safe. I used to be as worried as you at first though.

From: [identity profile] soft-daisy.livejournal.com
:D haha, if I had been you in that situation, I'd also have done the same out of habit/culture/paranoia lmao. Japan and Korea (and the UK?) seem really safe then based on the accounts here. even in Hong Kong/China and some other Asian countries I've been to, leaving your things unattended is a definite no.

From: [identity profile] ajin.livejournal.com
This. While Asian is much safer than Europe, for example, leaving your bags in a car unattended is tempting the thief no matter where you are :/

Leaving belongings in full view isn't good, they teach you that in school.

That sucks. Hopefully for them, they can be sure they'll have new passport really soon. I hope there wasn't too many things stolen with the passports.
But the bags shouldn't have been left like that in the car...

That sucks. Ever time I get out of my car I always make sure none of the valuable stuff is showing. I'm a little paranoid when it comes to this lol

Does that mean we can expect some personal pictures to leak? I mean, I don't want that because it sucks but I also kind of want it..

I forgot my passport on the counter of the ticket thing at the airport on the day I was supposed to leave the US to go back to France. Thank God I checked while we were driving out of the airport - I basically always forget things - and my passport was still there. I was shitting myself from the moment I realized I'd forgotten it till it was in my hands.

Never leave your bags or anything valuable so that it can be seen from outside your car as that kind of stuff really increases risk of some junky breaking into your car. Anyhow I hope things work out for them.

I get that he has to put on a good face, but he is taking the theft of his passport et al remarkably in stride. I'd be too enraged for words.
