T-ara’s Soyeon interviewed about Hwayoung incident

Currently busy filming in her new role as ‘Gwan Soon’, she is now afraid of going out in public. “When it comes time to eat during filming, I’m afraid of the way people look at me so I can’t go into the restaurant.”

Q: Let’s get straight to the point. Was there a ‘bully’?

A: I also saw the ‘evidence’ the netizens uploaded online. I did think that if that was all they saw, the ‘bullying’ point of view could have made sense. It is true that there were negative feelings towards Hwayoung during our Tokyo concert. When Hwayoung claimed she couldn’t perform because of her leg, and when she was at the beauty shop by herself when we were practicing, there was a fight between the members. Following the performance, we told the President to handle this for us. Starting from that point, many things happened and we didn’t know that it would lead to Hwayoung’s departure.

Q: Are you saying that the members did not want Hwayoung to leave the group?

A: Not at all. We all learned about this through the articles. We were angry at our company. All we said was there was a point of conflict, so we asked them to find a solution. If Hwayoung leaves like this, the blame goes to all of us. But our President told us, “let’s do it like this for Hwayoung’s sake”. We felt very torn.

Q: The other members never left out Hwayoung? Is it true that there were rifts in your relationships?

A: There are 7-8 teenage girls in their ‘teens and twenties, all staying together. Everyone want to be famous and become recognized, so it’s impossible to have no conflicts at all. Every day, members fight and apologize, stay together and separate. It was a similar situation with Hwayoung. If you’re asking if we had bad relationships because of that, then everyone in our group has bad relationships.

Q: This is your first interview after the scandal.

A: I was very afraid and scared. But the other members will soon go into sitcom filming as well and will need to take questions from the media. I figured since it has to happen someday, I might as well be the first.

Really good interview. I kinda understand it more now, even though I really want to hear the real opinion of JiYeon, who was the "main" bully in accordance with the media.

But it's strange that the already popular ones were that have been implicated in the bullying so the conflict with Hwayoung was what? She was unprofessional or that they don't want to share fame? Or that she came in to a popular group even though she joined in 2010 and they weren't exactly at the top.

Sounds like excuses bullies use, my mom doesn't give me attention so obviously I'd go outside and beat some kid.

1. [+141, -7] They lie every time they open their mouths. Kwang Soo said that at 7 a.m., he persuaded the T-ara members, while Soyeon's saying that she had no idea until she found out about the termination through the news. If they're going to lie, they should at least try and match it up. He's the one that lied saying that their Twitters were hacked when the controversy first broke out. Right after he claimed they were "hacked", Jiyeon was still tweeting regularly with Suzy and everyone else.

2. [+102, -4] In the interview video, you can tell right away that she has no sense of reflection. She makes it painfully obvious that she wants to be seen as the victim. She tries to act sad, innocent, nice, while still making jabs at Hwayoung. No matter how hard T-ara works, they'll always be outcast and be considered third rate in the industry now.

I had actually seen some translations of the interview before, but not one to this part. She comes of reeeeeeeealy cocky here (while that other part seemed a bit more sincere). Her body language is interesting. I think CCM lost track of the lies they were telling because her version is different from the company version. I actually believe most of what she is saying because it makes sense.

Her answer about their relationship is sad. It makes them seem very self centered, like they are more concerned with their individual fame than being friendly with each other.

The competition among the members is the main problem imo, their idiotic CEO basically threatens to kick them so they are constantlly trying to outshine each other, they have no bond as T-ara and there is were the problem resides, you can't have teamwork when you are constantly watching your back, so i'm not surprised that they ganged against the weakest link.

Still don't like them after the controversy and i doubt i'll ever like them again.
