Gangnam police say that Nichkhun of boy band 2PM will be handed over to prosecutors without detention for hitting a motorbike while driving under the influence.

"We will wind down the investigation on Aug. 9 and send our findings over to the prosecutors' office," said a police spokesperson.

The Thai-American idol singer was booked last month after his car allegedly struck a motorcycle that was entering an intersection. He is accused of driving under the influence.

At the time of incident, according to police, the 24-year-old singer had a blood alcohol level of 0.056 and his driver's license was revoked. He reportedly said he had two cans of beer.

The boy group member and motorcyclist reached a settlement concerning the accident last Thursday.

The release of a new Japanese music album, originally scheduled for next month, has been put on hold. He also did not appear in a "JYP Nation" concert held last Saturday.

i remember reading some really long and kind of convoluted post on askakorean about korean law

by virtue of korean law, because they settled wouldn't this stay out of court? unless the prosecution would just be for driving under the influence is criminal law

Nope. Drunk driving is too serious to 'calm down' about, especially in S. Korea.

I'm sorry but drunk driving is nothing compared to hundreds other things out in the world that are much more serious. So yes. Calm down. And having alcohol in your system does not equal drunk. Driving under the influence, yes, but not drunk. It was even stated that his drinking had nothing to do with the accident.

I can't...believe you honestly just said this. So fucking ignorant.

And having alcohol in your system does not equal drunk. Driving under the influence, yes, but not drunk.

Still never ok or remotely safe to anyone else?

It was even stated that his drinking had nothing to do with the accident.

Where?

You are delusional as fuck, you're an apologist, and you suck. Goodbye.

How's that for calm, eh? I even rhymed for you.

You must have missed this.

It states that: "Seoul’s Gangnam Police Station currently investigating the incident also ruled that Nichkhun’s drinking had nothing to do with the accident itself."

and also:
"According to media reports, the blackbox video containing the footage of the accident involving 2PM‘s Nichkhun and the motorcyclist was recently released.

It is said that the video shows that Nichkhun was driving at a speed within 40 km per hour (~ 25 miles per hour) on the four-way street of Hakdong when he collided with a motorcycle driving at a relatively slow speed as well. However, both parties were revealed to have not paid attention to the stop line, which can be seen as the cause of the accident.

Netizens commented, “I hope that Nichkhun’s case is handled right”, and “Nichkhun’s blackbox has finally been revealed.”"

Thus pretty much concluding that both Khun and the other driver were both at fault.

And before you call me an apologist or delusional which I am not. I'm not even really a Khun fan. I like 2PM yes, but Nichkhun is easily my least favorite member next to Junho. You need to read first since you obviously missed those articles that are here right on Omona. I'm not really a fan of Nichkhun. I'm just following all of what's been said so far. And so far they are both at fault. They both were idiot. And until that changes that's all there is. I look at the details that have been released. Same with any case I see on TV in the US. I really can't stand when people ignore all the details. I'm not denying that he was drinking. But I'm also not going to ignore the fact that the other guy is just as much at fault for the accident it seems as Khun.

I also don't count 0.056 as drunk. I don't drink myself. But I live with people who do. And I can't stand it when they even drink, but that's only because the person drinking has a lot of health problems that drinking does not help with.

Thank you.
