Welcome to DAY 6 of the London 2012 Summer Olympic Games! This FFA serves as a place to gather and chat about the games with your fellow Omona-zens.
Who is competing today?
-Republic of Korea
-Democratic People's Republic of Korea
With the help of our LJ Media Sunbae's, OmonaTheyDidn't! will be holding our Omonalympics Give-Away for the duration of the games!
After giving the list of winners from DAY 1 and DAY 2, LJ Media let us know that they completely underestimated just how many medals would be won and that we were dangerously approaching the limit they could pay. We have reached a $455 amount within the 1st two days and we have been notified that we are only covered until $500. Prizes will be awarded in full for DAY 1 and DAY 2 but we cannot give out the same prizes for DAY 3 and beyond. Instead we will be randomly awarding 1 person 500 tokens each day until the end of the games. We will be going over the limit that LJ Media can pay but we'll be digging into our marketing fund to pay the difference. It's a small sacrifice for us but we want our members to still have a chance at coming away with something. If we had known there was a limit of $500 we would have made the prizes much smaller than what was suggested to us when the contest was being drawn up and approved. We are very disappointed and very sorry! We hope that you guys will still continue to participate in the daily FFA and have fun.
How To Enter: Simply comment & chat in the daily FFA and you will have a chance to be randomly selected to win 500 LJ Tokens. Comment as much as you like, but stay on topic of the games or sports in general. Every comment you make increases your odds of being chosen. HAVE FUN!

The list of what I'm looking forward to has shortened. I'm increasingly less excited about these Games, given the ish that's been going down. I'm watching all archery matches, until judo starts. I'm going to miss fencing completely, as well as gymnastics and swimming finals, as always. щ(゚Д゚щ)(屮゚Д゚)屮 TV will be on in the background.
also, my bubble was burst:
Archers (and shooters) can and do inhance their performance (read: cheat). Some use good ol' fashioned booze to relax their nerves/muscles, for better aim (probably-not-peer-reviewed studies show one shot helps, two makes you suck). Some use beta blockers and traquilizers, which they are tested for. Kim Jong-su was caught doing so, and stripped of his medals. Same with a Swedish pentathlete, who was discovered to be boozed up during his shooting event. His entire team was DQ'd OTL NHFT TBH Still, I'm sure there are far fewer 'laxed archers, than there are juiced up sprinters.
Let's do this! Fairly. (ノ^ー^)ノ ★

Date: 2012-08-02 09:52 am (UTC)That said, fleet racing bores me. I tried to watch it, to see how well ☆Team IOA's van Aanholt would do, but I couldn't stare at that for an hour. She's not performing well, besides.

Date: 2012-08-02 09:44 am (UTC)NBC is really ruining these Games for me. The streams aren't always bad enough for me start fucking with proxies or whatever tho. I just wish they'd make it quicker to access. The lag is prolly my connection tho.
