I went to the second day and ngl, it was AMAZING. They have really good stage presence and connection with the crowd. It also felt like they were enjoying themselves as much as the crowd were.

A million times better than Big Bang were!

Can someone explain the meaning of those giant inflatables? A ring, lipstick, pearls, and high heeled shoe ain't exactly female empowerment memorablia. Though at least that lipstick kinda looks like a dildo... Oh well, maybe those items were only things available for order.

I'm kinda bummed btw that it seems like CL's solo stage will be cut again from DVD release (YG is always too cheap to buy rights for songs).

I love 2ne1 but they are a manufactured pop group backed by a giant recording company that co-opts "girl power" as part of their marketing scheme. Significant world-changing female empowerment isn't really on their agenda.

Of course they are, but as symbols presented on stage in such a manner they illustrate more of traditional female image as someone who's dependent on the other sex. So choosing those specific items seems kinda counteractive in case of 2NE1.

Hmm...I cannot agree with this statement. Those "traditional" female things do not make you dependent on the other sex...frankly I buy my $1000+ shoes because I like them and wear make up/clothing to look good for myself. Then again I've been in the military for 10 years so I can't really relate to most of the general populace's viewpoints.

Looking good in the eyes of other people is not the same as being dependent upon a man...

But I guess I don't really believe in lipstick feminism (while I like my high heels and lipstick I realize that those are things I'm probably using because social norms I have been raised within instead of something I would enjoy wearing if I had been for instance born as a man instead)

basically what im trying to get at is that feminism isn't just one facet that just says fuck you to the patriarchy and rejecting norms. and then there's the whole feminist guilt w/r/t makeup by recognizing why people choose to wear them. i think having the awareness of what makeup has been used for is definitely necessary to beginner feminists but idk i hate having to justify the use of makeup to anybody and shaming the ones who use makeup isn't particular useful.
maybe 2ne1 and their handlers didn't really think about all of this because they were thinking about fun and cute things.
