WELCOME! This post is for all the Omona-zens who want to gather together and chat about the 30th Olympiad Opening Ceremony and the countries/athletes they are rooting for. This $42,000,000 ceremony took 7 years of preparation and will last 4 hours. An estimated 1Billion people from around the globe will tune in. Have fun and stay on-topic! :D
What can you expect? Obviously they're not going to give it all away but according to the article Olympic Viewing Guide: The Opening Ceremony we should look out for...
-James Bond being knighted by Queen Elizabeth II & sent on a special mission to open the games
-The largest bell ever cast in Europe hanging at one end of the stadium
-The stadium transforming into a British countryside
-Live animals:Sheeps, horses, cows, chickens and even goats
-Synthetic clouds
-Four giant maypoles
-1936 Jarrow March reenactment
-Real nurses pushing hospital beds around the arena
-86 musical tracks mixed by the techno group Underworld
-Unknown (host nation?) athlete to light the cauldron
-Sir Paul McCartney ending the opening ceremony with a musical performance
-FIREWORKS!!!!!!!! ofc
