Gong Yoo Sets His Sights on Japan

Gong Yoo has a big month ahead in Japan. Just as his latest drama “Big” comes to an end in Korea, the romantic comedy, which tells the story of two people switching bodies, will begin airing in Japan from Aug. 3 via CSTV.
Then on the following day, Gong’s hit film “The Crucible” (2011) will open in cinemas there. Such a combined premiere is rare, and so Gong’s agents believe his popularity will soar in Japan.
Just in time for the two releases, Hallyu magazine Kanstyle dedicated the cover and 22 pages of its latest publication to the star.
The special feature on a single individual is a first for the magazine.
To celebrate Gong’s return to TV after a five-year hiatus, the magazine focused on what the 33-year-old star has been doing since “Coffee Prince” (2007).
“When we say Gong Yoo, people think of ‘Coffee Prince.’ It was loved in Japan but we expect his new drama ‘Big’ to surpass the fame of ‘Coffee Prince,’” said Kim Jin-hee, the editor at Kanstyle.

Actor Gong Yoo's love for children is becoming an issue online.On the July 16, producers of the KBS "Big" released photos taken on the filming set. In the photos are Gong Yoo playing with the child actors during break time between shoots.
The child actors in the photos play the roles of patients in the hospital that Yoon Jae(Gong Yoo) works at. In the pictures, Gong Yoo can be seen spending time with them, making eye contact at their height level.
A staff commented, "Gong Yoo must be tired from all the filming but he never loses his smile on the filming set. During break time, he goes to take care of other actors and staff members first. I think a good drama was a result of the considerate of actors."
Those who saw the photos commented, "That's so good to see," "That's so romantic," and "Gong Yoo is so cute."

Date: 2012-07-18 06:05 am (UTC)as for what happens next, idek. for everything to come to full circle, I think what has to happen is for them to have switched when he fainted last episode and kyungjoo to forget everything, as does yoonjae (assuming his mind was conscious while he was in the coma). of course this sucks for da ran and completely ruins the whole build-up for kyungjoons/darans relationship but I don't see her ending up with 19 y.o kyungjoon :\ IM SO CURIOUS DAMMIT lol

That said, Suzy did not improve AT ALL since Dream High. OTL

I hate that k-drama trend of "to protect one another, we must stay apart no matter how hard it hurts". Love is not that noble...

I want KKJ to end up w/ Gil Da Ran at this point. They are so such a cute couple. That whole 10:10 thing was so cute & sweet! I'm mad that Yoon Jae was so shy or w/e in the beginning of their relationship because now we have very little to sway us to pick him to end up w/ Gil Da Ran. Also if he wakes up idk how he would react to him already getting married and cheated on so maybe he will turn into a bad guy or smth and completely justify Gil Da Ran and KKJ winding up together tho they look like they will make an awkward couple. Maybe Yoon Jae will die in KKJ's body? because he feels guilty or smth and the transplant is actually dangerous so he sacrifices himself? idk but I LOVE this drama.

I don't like how Lee Min Jung is presented as a weak character who can't make decisions.
If she really doesn't feel that her liking KKJ is right, she should just left the both of them, really .___.

The MGY x JGS moments were really adorable and those scenes were the reason why I kept on watching a few episodes lol. PSH x JGS were cute but MGY does the naturally cute character better.

What's his connection with Japan?? In Coffee Prince , Bad Guy , and MSOAN he plays characters with some type of Japanese connection, why is that??? It's a pattern that re-occurs too much to be a coincidence.

And I think he continued to study the language, which resulted him being able to conduct Japanese fanmeetings without the use of a translator.
I think that's why he's probably more marketable than JGS, but JGS got way more popularity than him .____. JGS used to be so cute.

It's really too bad he's not as popular, I really like him as an actor. He killed me in Bad Guy. He played the tortured soul role really well and that's what really made me start to like him.
Now that JKS is doing music again, he's becoming attractive to me again. I'd loved for them to be in another music based drama together ^^

I feel he's very delicate at portraying his roles, which makes me like him more.
I never saw him in Bad Guy (Planned to, never started) but I'm happy he played his role well<3.
Yeah actually, when JGS has decent hair and style, he goes back to the old JGS lol.
I kinda miss his style around when he was in the movie with Mason Moon.
But it would be nice if they do do a music related drama together.
I'll totally watch it, I'm sure it can be created into a comedy lol.

Most of the characters are annoying me (Mari is freaking childish and annoying, Da Ran is too indecisive, Kang Joon is pretty much choosing to be a homewrecker in Yoon Jae's body, the mother is just too selfish...lol).
Hong sisters need to improve on making their characters in more multiple dimensions than the plain annoying, evil, etc. characterizations.
