Slighty OT (idk if anyone could even answer it tbh), but how receptive is the public to Kangin since he got back? He seems really sheepish and shy during appearances. Just wondering if that's a side effect of being back in the spotlight or the fact that he doesn't believe anyone wants him back?

I don't know all that much, really, but I haven't seen any negative responses/articles so far. The fans are definitely supportive, Kangin gets some of the loudest cheers during performances. I think the fact that he appeared sufficiently modest/subdued also helped, people would probably react differently if he immediately returned to his old bubbly MC/comedian personality without seeming repentant. It's most likely a Korean/Asian cultural thing a person needs to do after making a mistake. One can tell there's a lot of guilt involved... he probably doesn't want to cause his groupmates more trouble.

And let's face it, the MC types in SJ who joke around a lot like Teuk, Hyuk and Shindong also have a lot of haters, and I felt Kangin also had that rather obnoxious vibe back then (even more than those three, in my personal opinion). Plus he's probably still trying to get used to being back himself.

Anyhow, just my two cents.

I think ELFs are a completely different beast than the public; hearing those cheers makes you feel like he's welcome but they also excuse so much behavior from their oppars it makes my head spin. Now, Kangin is/was my first bias so maybe I'm willing to overlook a lot too (lol) but it's just confusing the way society works over there.

I had talked about this with one of my friends who is Korean, (and maybe was even there around the time he was being released? I don't remember) and she seemed to have no comment about it. Shaving your head and going to the army is as heartfelt an apology as they get and it basically wipes one's slate clean. I understand him not bursting back out on to the scene but there's been absolutely nothing, no interviews for him to explain himself at all. I would think at least a Strong Heart story would help him/us find out how frigid the public is/isn't toward him.
