2NE1 member Minzy’s grandmother passes away

It has been reported that 2NE1 Minzy‘s grandmother, Madam Gong Ok Jin, passed away at the age of 81 on the early morning of July 9th.

A representative of YG Entertainment stated, “Minzy is shocked upon hearing the unfortunate news of her grandmother. She has currently left for Youngkwang to attend the wake with her family. We will arrange her schedule depending on the situation.”

After suffering from a sudden stroke in 1998, Gong Ok Jin has since been fighting against the aftermath and old age.

Gong Ok Jin was widely known for her traditional singing and Korean dance, especially for inventing the ‘lame dance’ and the ‘animal imitation dance’.

Her grandmother’s wake will be held at the funeral hall located in Youngkwang in Jeonnam Province.

Our thoughts go out to Minzy and her family. May her grandmother rest in peace.
