Jung Il Woo Becomes First Korean Actor to Win at the Chinese Huading Awards

The 7^th Huading Awards took place at the Beijing Olympic Gymnasium on July 4, and Jung Il Woo became the first Korean to have been invited to the event.

In previous years, this award ceremony was geared only towards Chinese actors and actresses. However, this year, it has enlarged its scope to include actors from other Asian countries as well.

During the award ceremony, Jung Il Woo was announced as the winner of the “Best Asian Male Actor Award,” proving his immense popularity both domestically and internationally. In doing so, he also became the first Korean actor to take home an award at the Huading Awards.

Jung Il Woo also came in first in a real-time online survey conducted that asked the netizens to vote for their favorite star among the actors who attended the award ceremony.

lol @ soompi. Well apparently, he's not that famous domestically though. He gives the "rookie actor" feel for the mass public, imo. He'll def get more popular... Post army perhap's. Because he's that talented, anyway.

I'm not sure he's had a domestic hit that's why he's not that relevant to Korea. He's a good actor though and has a fanbase.

lol he is famous domestically though? especially after ramyun shop he got a lot of good reviews from that. he's not kim soo hyun popular either but that's cause he hasn't acted in dramas that became hits yet.

I don't know if you got it but when I said "he is not that famous",it was in reference to soompi's comment about his popularity that was in my opinion pretty much exaggerated. It doesn't contradict the fact he is very popular (for a certain public).

yes i got that actually, thats how soompi's articles always are though, exaggerated. they made it sound like he's a superstar which he deff isn't but in korea he is popular and keeps on getting even more popular.

Yes he'll get more popular, it's just that as someone who liks this actor, his current popularity doesn't satisfy me, I think he should be way more popular ,because he has the capacity, the image and the talent.

his current popularity might be bigger than what you think though, you only get to see it from the view of an international fan but if you lived in korea you might notice that it is different there. he does deserve more attention and if he keeps on working hard im sure he'll get it.

But Ramyun Shop is a cable drama. So it's kind of irrevelant to what I say.

And he didn't get that much praise for the moon/sun rly. Kim Soo Hyun stole every praise away, he wasn't even invited to that award show. His character was def popular but it looks like ppl didn't pay that much attention to him. And by the way he was criticized too.

"The actor who played Bo Kyung's dad in MS criticized JIW's acting skills. He said that what was not good with JIW was that he was very "contemporary" and awkward ( in the role). He continued to say that the issue with JIW was that he doesn't know the "tradition" ( basics).. He started of in situation comedy with High Kick, but even sitcoms have their basics..but JIW doesn't know it.

But he had positive thoughts about how JIW expressed his gratefulness ( JIW was filled with emotion and teary-eyed)."

i'm not a JIW fan so i kinda agree. the acting in METS was rather problematic even by kdrama standards. it says a lot when Kim Yoo Jung was the only one who impressed me :/

He's popular in Korea though. High Kick gave him great exposure and he was just in 3 dramas back to back. He's not having the same buzz as Kim Soohyun, who's the It Boy right now, or even as much as BFF Lee Minho, but Jung Ilwoo's career certainly more stable than a lot of actors his age.
