Super Junior‘s Shindong, Ryeowook, and Eunhyuk left an encouraging video message for fellow member Kibum, who’s currently busy filming his drama, ‘I Love Italy‘.

The video (below) was uploaded onto CJ E&M Drama‘s official YouTube channel with the title, “[I Love Italy] Super Junior members’ supportive video message!”

The members gave words of encouragement to Kim Kibum as well as to the rest of the cast members saying:

First, we’d like to congratulate Kim Kibum for his lead role in a drama! Kibum, we miss you and love you so much. In addition to Kibum, actress Park Ye Jin and Sunny Hill‘s Jubi are also starring in the drama. We, Super Junior, will be tuning into ‘I Love Italy’, so we hope you all do the same. Kibum, fighting!

Check out the video message!

I thought it was nice of them to support Kibum (though I don't think he really deserves it). Wookie is so sweet.

Agree. Nice enough of them to do this but ugh Kibum doesn't deserve it.

In Hangeng's case it was always against SM not the members and he said that many times, I still think that there could have been some other way to deal with it though.
Kibum just up and vanished from their promotional cycles in 2009 claiming he wanted to focus on his acting career, which seems to have only gotten going now after, what, 3 years? There is no way he's coming back and the ELF that think he's coming back and want him back are naive.

Frankly I think something happened, or something is stopping him from fully admitting he left. Because it's obvious...but neither him or SME will just say...he he is no longer in the group and is doing his own solo thing. That would at least provide closure.

I don't understand it. Why won't neither say it?

Baffling.

Maybe SME and Kibum are afraid of the fans' reactions? Once Kibum officially withdraws from the group, there is a possibility his fanbase will dwindle because I am sure some fans are only supporting him as a member of Super Junior, not as actor Kim Kibum.

From: [identity profile] caribgirl98.livejournal.com
His fanbase has already dwindled. The Kibum fans left...are the ones that like him and are supporting him no matter what. Those that were going to drop Kibum..dropped him already

Most fans gave up already...or are mad that they don't know what's going on and he "disappeared"

At this point fan reaction is not relevant.

Fans survived Han Geng leaving and all it's dramatics...I doubt a statement that Kibum is not coming back and doing solo will have much affect at this point. So don't know why they don't come out with it.

I approve of your icon? XD
The fun part is that, as far as I gathered, Italy is in no way featured in the drama. The woman is just called LEE TAE RI. You gotta love romanization of asian languages.
Plot: Kid!Kibum's spirit is in someway misplaced in the body of 30something!Kibum and loves Taeri. See also: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big & http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meru_Puri

yay! XD
oh hahaha so it's a romanizing thing? I thought it was going to be about the character's life in Italy or something, lol.
Ohhhh I see, that sounds like it could be awkward. Ahh, Meru Puri, that takes me back!

Ops! Correction! According to my friend, Taeri was born in Italy and has lived in Milan for most of her life, but has only recently moved to Korea to get in her parents' business. She also spurts random Italian catchphrases like: "Oh mamma!" and "Che bello!". I love it when foreigners butcher the Italian language, I have to watch this as soon as I can.

I see what you're saying, but at the same time I kind of disagree.

I don't think they're doing this to make any fans think he's coming back, they're doing it to support Kibum. And of course, a few people will take it the wrong way, but that isn't their intention.

And unlike any of the other projects listed, Kibum's drama is being aired in S. Korea and is intended for that market. As far as I know, none of those three are particularly good at Mandarin, and I don't believe they speak Thai at all. While it would be nice, this kind of message wouldn't really reach the audience those projects are going for (outside of ELFs who would probably already know about it).

My main conspiracy theory about Kibum has always been that he had some kind of mental breakdown . . . so I'd say he needs all the support he can get.

I'm serious. He dropped a few hints on Full House that sounded (to me at least) like he'd had problems with depression while he was in high school.

And lbr, if he was totally fine and just wanted out of the group SME would have loaded him down with dramas while he was popular. Instead he disappeared for the most part, but didn't leave the company. It's one thing for them to put CSJH or Isak in the basement, but he was making them money. There's got to be a reason why.

Date: 2012-06-28 05:41 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] caribgirl98.livejournal.com
Yep. I agree. Something happened. He disappeared for 3 years. And when we did see him...he did not look so hot.

And they can't or won't talk about it.

But to me....they can at least make it oficial and say he is not in the group anymore and doing his own thing instead of playing coy. That is what is upsetting.

This so much. It annoys me no end that Kibum is considered more of a member than Zhou Mi and Henry. Who was there longer? Who's there ~now~?

Based on pure technicality, he hasn't left the group. No official statement regarding Kibum's extended MIA-ness. However, he hasn't performed with them since 2008. He wasn't with them in he group's 2009 glory days, only shooting ~drama~ scenes in their music videos.

I wish SM can just release a final statement regarding Kibum. They should stop giving fans false hope that he will come back because he's had a 3-year-break and is not showing any signs of ever coming back.

Please...they are still somewhat encouraging people with Han Geng...and anyone with sense knows that's not happening.

It's all about promoting that family and brotherhood...we all love each other and we will never part foolishness. The ans eat it up and it's sells goods...so they do anything to protect that image.

From: [identity profile] mycorrhizoid.livejournal.com
He doesn't promote, but he's still under SME. So no one's ever officially said he left the group.

Some of them still mention him as a member in their Thanks To sections, and occasionally they'll talk about him or tweet pictures eating with him on their days off, but everyone who isn't delusional knows he isn't going to start participating again, we just don't know why.

when suju get srs bsns interviews, they're usually asked about the heavier stuff, like geng or kangin but no one ever asks about kibum lol. i'd think that was the easier topic than about a member who left or one has a dui but's it's like a tacit agreement never to ask about him. this is like, their first public (as in, on tv) mention of him in ages, right?

From: [identity profile] carmine-pink.livejournal.com
He is, but there was one srs bsns interview at Radio Star circa 2010 where they talked about Han Geng and Kangin (they probably got the OK from the agency beforehand). Re: Han Geng leaving, they basically said they didn't see it coming at all and they wished he had talked to them if he had some things bothering him. Re: Kangin, they said they were upset at first but decided he needed all the support he could get.

Date: 2012-06-28 05:51 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] caribgirl98.livejournal.com
That interview caused a shit storm.

Shindong said in it that they were hurt because Han Geng had said in interviews that Suju members never helped him....

And no fan can recall Han Geng ever saying that. So people were HOT at Shindong for spreading lies and believing rumors. And causing bad feelings.

Also Leeteuk said that they can't contact him (which contradicted other statments made)...and they couldn't believe he would behave this way. So it was kind of seen as hit job on Han Geng and fans were PISSED. Caused all kinds of drama. So...eh...that was the last time they spoke about him at length.

When SJM was promoting in China/Taiwan...it was reported by the press there that SME would not allow any questions about Han Geng or related to Han Geng. And they avoid an award show that they were both scheduled to be at. SJM played basketball that night...

Drama.

Ugh whatever, it's not like Kibum did anything wrong :| (We all know that SME artists take time away from groups with weird excuses and half explained reasons.)

If he figured he's happier doing what he does, then good for him tbh. JFC it's not like he abandoned them or smth. Not that I mean to be mean but one member out of Super Junior, was not that noticeable, particularly since...you know, Kibum didn't really contribute a lot in the first place( except maybe looks).

SME can't really release a statement 3 years on. It's weird and tbh people kinda know by now.
