tbh, I love Hyoyeon and I really wasn't going to say this anywhere, but the whole deserved 10 thing got to me...
I don't feel that this cha cha really was that good at all. It wasn't terrible of anything, but JFC, this is a ballroom competition, all that other dancing can gtfo.
she also so faking her cuban motions. (which is kind of understandable, but their are moments that she does it right and then she goes back to doing it wrong....)
I will say, I like routine, just not as a cha cha, if that makes since.
I agree with you. The performance was entertaining for sure, but almost half of that routine was locking... I get that they're trying to be fun, and if they makes it to the finals she can showcase whatever she wants to in the freestyle round. At this point of the competition, however, they should be focusing on strictly ballroom.
oh wow she looked absolutely gorgeous and aaaaaah i had no idea she could dance like that, i'm so impressed! she was stiff in a few places, a little awkward, but she pulled it all through in the end *~*

She has nearly no correct or any hip action at all, which is surprising in an actual dancer. and this choreo is close to terrible. I don't understand what he was thinking when he was teaching her or what he knows of her skill, because the choreo did nothing to help her or emphasize that she does know movements of cha cha cha and that she's learned something from this routine.
Hyoyeon is a great dancer but idk what the heck I was expecting from her. Her arms were wrong for a lot of it. She never outstretched it far enough, always having it tucked into her chest, and her leg movements were not as fluid as I was expecting of her.
Does anyone know her score? It was definitely not worth a 10 but maybe like 7's? if that....
I agree with her poor hip action - her partner was way better at it ;) i felt as if there'd been no energy in her dance. And the song was so repetitive :/
Her partner is a certified ballroom dancer so I expect him to have the action, but when he does it better than her? And those are her moves? I'm going to major judge.

Her partner is a bad teacher and a bad choreographer. It makes me really disappointed because I was expecting so much from her. She's so stiff and too loose where she is not supposed to be. Her footwork still sucks and while her arms are better tan her feet, they're still awkward. I mostly blame her partner because he hasn't done anything to help her improve.
I usually enjoy Hyoyeon's dancing, but throughout DWTS... idk, maybe ballroom dancing is just not her forte (I imagine not all dancers are good at every genre), because she's been very stiff and somewhat awkward in every routine I've watched. ia, it's disappointing, probably because we came in with certain expectations of her. :/ The choreo also doesn't help matters much.
After 10 season of DWTS and however many seasons of SYTYCD (the ballroom is almost always terrible on that show... though I usually like the songs, lol), you think we'd be use to it by now. But, no, it just, well this much to strong of a word but I can't think of a better one, annoying to hear people say "they're such a great ballroom dancer/that was a great routine" when there not really. XD
