As you can see we have had a little work done but I think it turned out nicely & as the swelling goes down things can only get better. Sure we might look a bit different on the outside, but charms are more than skin deep. Just like with any surgery there can be snags & we have hit a few small ones.



You may notice that the new look continues into the comment page. Some members with amazing observation spotted that there was no "expand" option when viewing comment threads. I want you to know that the tech team for LJ Media tried to find a way around this, but at the current moment nothing can be done. This part of the tech is controlled in Moscow where they don't have direct control. The only option would be to remain using the new LJ comment system. However, this would ruin continuity of the site and there would be no secondary comment pages. No secondary pages could potentially be a disaster zone. Try to imagine a single page of 10,000 sparkle text and gif comments in a Shinee comeback post. It's pretty scary!

Some good news though. There are some rumblings that back in Moscow they are working on allowing the new LJ commenting system to be customized. Although there is no telling when it will be released... just that it will most likely be some time in the second half of the year. It's not a guarantee. When it is launched we can switch back to it if any current comment problems cannot be figurered out.

The last thing is that for a little while the new layout might not be completely the same as the test site.

We're sorry for any frustrations this may cause. If you notice anything else please don't hesitate to point it out and I'll try to get it corrected if it's possible.

so why couldn't we just keep the last system that did have all the sparkly comment options? i like changes as long as we don't lose functionality...but we did. reading comments and interacting w/ ~omonians~ is a pain in the ass now which will affect the comm. i'd rather just go back to the old layout until LJ finds a solution to the comment section.

Not too excited about new comment page so I fixed the problem by installing a certain grease monkey script (that I edited so that it only applies to omona). LJ changes always suck.

Also I like the comments the way they are. The page change is new but the (lack of) formatting options is actually how the comments used to be....of course the days when everyone knew basic HTML are gone, just like the days when people who did "edits" and graphic design actually did them from scratch instead of using .PSDs. Technology really does make our lives more convenient but at the sake of manual learning.
