Angry Diablo 3 users in S. Korea demand refund over server lag

The highly celebrated launch of online game Diablo 3 is rapidly turning into a consumer nightmare as thousands of users are demanding refund over server lags.

South Korea’s Fair Trade Commission official said Wednesday it has received between 111 and 175 Diablo 3-related complaints per day in the past few days, according to news reports. The official added that the average number complaints received every day is about 150.

The Fair Trade Commission vowed it will "look into the situation," but did not elaborate.

Reportedly, most of the discontent consumers were furious over excessive time it took them to log on to the game.

“Error 3003 has been slapping me in the face nightly. … Fix this fast or I will not be buying any new products from Blizzard,” warned one user on Diablo 3’s online page.

The wildly popular action RGP game by Blizzard Entertainment has garnered huge popularity upon its release last week, but its success is taking a toll as too many users are causing server maintenance problems.

In just a week, over 3,000 internet users have signed an online petition in Daum’s Agora forum, demanding refunds over server problems.

Blizzard vowed to take measures against the problem, but did not present any specific measures on refund demands.

Last week, the company said in an official statement that its preparation for the launch of the game “did not go far enough,” an apologetic gesture in reaction to the downpour of complaints from consumers.

Diablo requires an always online connection to play, even if you aren't playing with anyone else so the lag/slow response make it pretty impossible to play.

Everyone is having this problem. It's even worse for Oceanic players playing on American servers. A friend I play with lives in Malaysia but plays on the European servers (He's French) and he gets disconnected regularly. Even I get sudden lags and all the rubber-band shit is fucking annoying.
I think Blizz is waiting for the overall d3 population to thin out so they don't have to spend money on additional servers and all that shit. I just wish the fucking game wasn't an online only game ugh.

Go play hardcore with that fucking lag ugh.

Also people GET AN AUTHENTIFICATOR, it's free if you have a smartphone or 6.50$ for the physical dongle. There are lots of hackings happening and you don't want to lose all your gold and shit. Also you don't want to get your HC character getting deleted by a hacker.

i dont think you'll ever be able to play it offline because the world is populated by the servers - if you take away the online component all you'd be left are empty levels. i think thats why theres so much lag (besudes the amount of ppl and not enough servers)

I'm playing a Demon Hunter, I'm lvl 52 right now and just started in Hell. Than I have a lvl 40 Wizard on the American server. I love both cause I can kite the fuck out of every mob. I prefer playing a ranged char so I'll probably try Witch Doctor as well.
Don't know about Monk and Barb, I tried to do a Monk but didn't like it so I stopped.

god the lag sucks~ getting mobbed in random places always kills me, the more monsters on screen, the longer it takes the computer to realize that I cast a spell (wizard ftw)

The only problem I've had connecting was on launch night. Even then I was one of the few who was able to play within the first half-hour after launch. Otherwise, very little lag and only a bit of rubberbanding when I'm in a game with more than two people. I'm US west coast. I have been in a few games on the American servers with people from Europe or Asia and they've clearly had some trouble.

Dinged my Wiz to lvl 50 last night and started Hell. Yeehaw.

Well, then I know for sure that it isn't me and that the BS on the Blizzard website about it being my computer unable to handle it is just that.

It's depressing. I've been waiting over a decade for this game, and I'd sooner poke at tumblr for hours or get back into Skyrim than fight with it.

A lot of people are like "what did you expect from Activision", and I have to say that I wasn't thinking about that, I was thinking that they finally released the game and I actually had the money to buy it. Blizzard and Activision knew for years what people's feelings were about this game. They could have risen to the occasion, but they didn't. They could have looked at feedback from similar game experiences and said "we can do better going forward, we can change people's minds about this company", but they didn't. I don't think that that makes us fans gullible dupes.

What these people don't realize is that whenever a new Blizzard game comes out the servers are shit. It's like that EVERY TIME. Blizz knows enough of these people will ragequit and voila, less people on the server.
