Leeteuk Interrupting Fanny And Taeyeon Was a "Misunderstanding"

Leeteuk, member of popular idol group Super Junior, has been criticized by netizens for an incident that happened toward the end of the K-Pop concert in the United States.  Concert staff helps to shed some light on the misunderstanding.

At the end of the “MBC Korean Music Wave in Google” concert all the performers were asked to comeback out on stage to sing, “Arirang.”  When the song had ended, Leeteuk made the closing statement for the ceremony, “Those of us who speak different languages and have different appearances were able to unite as one tonight through music.”  Netizens were quick to acuse the Super Junior leader of stealing the attention away from the show’s emcees. The few unruly netizens felt it should have been the responsibility of Girls’ Genertaion’s Taeyeon and Tiffany to close out the show.

An official with MBC made a statement regarding the mishap, he explained, “My view of the situation is that the criticism stems from some misunderstanding of the goings on. Leeteuk was asked by the director of the concert to wrap-up the live show because he has a lot of experience as an emcee.”

The official continued, “It is completely absurd to think that Leeteuk had interrupted Tiffnay’s job as emcee. Leeteuk came on stage holding a microphone, which in itself signifies it was all planned well in advance.”

Leeteuk took to Twitter to comment on the situation, “After the ending song ‘Arirang’ was sung, I had been asked to close the concert by saying a few words. At this time I would like to express my sincerest apologies if the producer’s request of having me say the closing lines was in bad taste. If this is not the case, I am politely asking you to please not criticize me.”

My opinion of this is that I don't mind that he made the closing speech. MBC told you to do it? Sure okay. Him not letting other people talk? That's for a different discussion. What grinds my gears is that he interrupted Tiffany. And he did, because no one was expecting him to suddenly start talking when Tiffany was clearly still speaking.
Please don't try to tell me he didn't interrupt her. If video evidence isn't good enough, lol... wow. And I think another big thing was the camera zooming in on Taeyeon's face. Like brilliant idea right there camera person!

He mos def was feelin' hisself! Even at the hotel. He was smiling and waving, all the time. Even when "fans" were doing dumb shit (watching him in the gym). Mebbe he's nice, but based on other comments...I suppose he's an attention whore. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I'm not a Leeteuk (or SuJu) fan either, but he seemed smart to me. He didn't let the hounding bring him down. I admire that, though I understand it the other way too.

Ngl, I was at the show and didn't even notice. LOL As I look back at the stream that they posted up on YouTube, it really was done in bad taste and it's obvious by the way that Taeyeon reacted. However, I hate the overreaction that fans had over this. Reading people's hateful comments about him was pretty disgusting. I could never understand how people can wish for other people's death, especially of people that they don't even really know.

Either way, I'm glad he realized his mistake and apologized.

What I think is funny about the whole thing is Sone making such a big deal of him cutting off a few words. Because if it had been the other way around and she had interrupted him and ELF threw a similar fit, they'd be pressed haters looking for excuses over a few words.
Also, it was unprofessional of Leeteuk to interrupt, but it was also unprofessional of Taeyeon to make her little bitch face.

I personally think Tiffany and Taeyeon forgot he was closing the show which caused the interruption. He wouldn't must talk over like that on a big show like this. Its not his fault he was chosen to close the show, I think the girls forgot he was supposed to say his line or whatever and this whole mess happened. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case tbh considering how the course of MCing was throughout the night

and I'm still amazed how can this be HUUUUUGE problem when mbc gayo daejun 2011 were worse...there everybody was like interrupting everybody,lol. but no one was called rude for cutting in or making a face when it was broadcasted live and the whole nation can see.
