YG Says 2NE1 is Not Pretty. Look Who's Talking.

YG (Yang Hyun Suk) made people laugh with his words about 2NE1's looks. On May 21, he appeared on SBS "Healing Camp," where he talked about many topics. He shared untold stories about the years when he was part of Seo Taiji and Boys, Big Bang's incidents, results of the creation of 2NE1's "I Am the Best," and the reason why he became a rich landowner in Hongdae. He also revealed how he secretly dated his wife, Lee Eun Joo, for nine years and along with that, he showed images of his daughter and son.

On this day, YG said, "People say that YG doesn't look at appearances, however, I do look at the looks." He continued and made people laugh by saying, "Instead, I like cool people more than pretty people. To tell you the truth, 2NE1 isn't pretty in my eyes. They aren't that tall either but they are cool. Look at CL and Minzy, they are chic. I think it's my inclination."

Continuously, YG revealed, "There are positives as much as there are negatives. Most people point out negatives before positives. When others highlight negatives, I make them see the positives."

lol when YG flat out calls them ugly i get why ppl get pissed cause hello look in the mirror but when he admits that they're not really what you would call a good-looking group or a group based on looks like SNSD/T-ara/etc idg the hate cause their own fandom admits that all the damn time. i think he's an ass for calling them ugly on camera and saying it to their faces but here he's really not saying anything that isn't true imo. the girls aren't necessarily 'ugly' but they're not the conventional pretty in korea either and that's fine with me cause they don't need to look that way to be pretty, except maybe for dara who is the typical beauty in sk. he should just stop talking about it all together though.

I don't understand why he had to say that they weren't pretty at all. By all means say that they are cool and whatnot but saying they aren't pretty on television is just mean. He could have just said "I do look at appearance, but I think attitude/whatever is more important." He is such a douche, I hope all his artists secretly hate him and poop in his coffee.

I personally think that 3 of them are not pretty too, but the fact that he keeps talking about it makes him look bad imo, he needs to stop telling the girls they are not pretty or ugly or fat like he has done before, that's just mean and rude, i mean he is their CEO and it's not the first time he has said things like this on interviews or to the girls.

All I can say is that I think Dara is one of the prettiest idols (and somehow ''natural'') and that you can't complain about Minzy if you let your stylist burn/damange/destroy her hair so much it hurts to watch. And as much as I don't find Bom or CL pretty (and I dont like them in anyway), I don't think they deserve to be called ugly/whatever, since we don't get to choose your genes, any less to be humiliated on TV.

I highly doubt that he has been told to be handsome often so he should understand how it feels. DUH.

Hmm, interesting~ I like your thinking. Considering he has a group coming out that's supposed to be based on natural beauty, he might be trying to differentiate them from 2NE1. Otherwise it makes no sense, it's like bad PR for him to be talking badly of a group he created unless he's trying to shift the way people view them. If they're not pretty then it must be their talent that's making them popular, as you said.

I don't think there is a anything wrong with YG not thinking they're pretty, but why the fuck does he think, that his opinion about it is so important, that he needs to be saying it all over the place.

I don't like the fact that he acts as though he is making a factual statement, or 'acknowledging' something they apparently 'lack', according to Korean/social beauty standards. They're fine, leave them the fuck alone.

I wish in general that people would stop feeling the need to comment, on when they think people look bad. It's one thing to talk about fashion, but all the time 'I don't get why he/she is so special' 'I think he/she is plain/ugly' etc. Clearly we all exist in a world where perceptions of what is beautiful is different, and it's not always going to be people you find attractive. idgit, people are obsessed with letting it be known when they don't like how some people look.

Maybe I'm being extreme, but I just don't get, why, if you don't like how someone looks, you can't just move on without saying anything, and go give compliments to someone whose looks you do like.

Honestly, it's okay if he doesn't think that they are pretty. That's his opinion and everybody has one.
