Well hello there, charming omona beauties!

Today I would like to announce something exciting! Yes, we waited until way after April 1st (농담 아니야)



As you know Omona is no stranger to love calls, but recently one in particular was quite eye-catching. A little over a month ago we were contacted by ljmedia, the online publishing group founded to aid in the discovery of rich and engaging communities (that's us!) and content (your flaw free unnies and oppas) on LiveJournal. Basically they think we're quite the collective group of awesome and invited us to partner with them. After careful consideration and seeing all the upside, we agreed to join forces.

What good can come of a partnership you might ask? Once a community becomes a part of LJ Media, they benefit from marketing, editorial, promotional and technology support. We have opted to run ads for the first year (use adblock and it shouldn't be a problem) or so, which could bring in extra revenue for things like advertising OMNTD outside of LJ (Adwords, FB, etc..), charity donations (of omona's choice), for purchasing additional contest items (outside of what LJ Media provides to us) to give away, or upgrades to Omona Headquarters . Revenue is generated based on how many unique hits we get, not how many members we have, so no need to worry about a bunch of nugus up in your omona running amuck. We will continue to grow as we always have, but it wont suddenly be a free for all where long time members feel they are being pushed out.

This may feel scary because it's uncharted water for us, but really the only changes to the community you will notice will be cosmetic improvements. Rules will not become more lax or more strict. LJ Media wants us to just be us at our best & continue to grow <3

I'm sure you guys will have some questions, so mods will try to answer them as fast and as best we can.

whatever happened to the partnership with KPop Masters and the special/exclusive bits Omona was suppose to get back in November for advertising them?

Ah, yes! I thought it might be better to answer this in the comment section instead of devoting a section in the main post.

Basically I'll break it down like this

-mods were approached by a member of their group and given a sob story about how a popular (but will remain unnamed) site wouldn't advertise for them unless they paid a minimum of $50k.
-incentives were given for us to advertise for them (backstage vip passes, signed merch, etc) as we said taking money would make us feel wrong
-official emails were exchanged with a bunch of warnings about not sharing info yadda yadda and they said they would provide all the things for us to advertise. including that layout that everyone saw.
-we kept our end of the bargain and they didn't.
-repeated emails and contact to them but we never heard anything back.

Pretty much it in a nutshell. They're douche-bags. It's something that really infuriated and embarrassed us but most of all we're really sorry that members didn't get the benefits from it because we really only did it so we could get cool shit for you guys :( Sorry we're flops and trusted them.

I think we could do that. I'll prob need some feedback on the layout that's coming. There will prob be bugs. And actually you guys can check out the test site (http://test-z.livejournal.com/)... if you think it's fug, just know that it's not like it will be the only layout forever :P

This sounds interesting! I sincerely hope that we gain new members, but still keep the feeling of a small community where people can comment without too much /stress/.

Maybe we can also use the revenue to fund Omona's long-rumored Kpop group!

If the comment section is going to be anything like ontd_p or arama, then I'm not down for this. The comment section right now is awesome, we have the check box selection, expand and collapse, the cool interface for selecting a userpic, "new comment" thing etc. So many helpful features. The custom comments sections for ontd_p and arama are horrible and have none of those great features. ONTD spin of communities are all about the user comments and discussion and this default comment section rocks for that.

If the designers can make it so you can expand from the top-level comment then I can deal.

+1 on all of this. i commented about the check box expand/collapse thing too but you added a few that i'm so used to that i forgot about them haha. we should be able to keep all of our bells and whistles imho.
