Summit Entertainment has announced that Catherine Zeta-Jones and Byung-Hun Lee will be joining the ensemble cast of the upcoming RED 2, set to hit theaters on August 2, 2013.

The project is being directed by Dean Parisot from a screenplay by Erich and Jon Hoeber, who wrote the script for the original RED, based in turn on a comic book by Warren Ellis and Cully Hammer.

RED 2 brings back the team of retired CIA operatives as they use their old-school style to take on a new set of enemies all across Europe.

“We had so much fun making 'RED' and seeing that amazing cast assembled together – and so did consumers: over $200m worldwide and the number one home entertainment rental of last year," says Erik Feig, President, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, Production. "We can't wait to bring them back together, give them some new friends, and show they ‘still got it.’”

Zeta-Jones can soon be seen on the big screen in Rock of Ages and Lee in G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

Lorenzo DiBonaventura and Mark Vahradian will produce the film via their DiBonaventura Pictures banner. Feig will oversee the project for the studio along with Summit Entertainment’s Senior Vice President of Production, Geoff Shaevitz.

I really enjoyed the first movie, which tbh I didn't expect to at first, haha.
Hopefully this one's good too.

For anyone else wondering, yeah RED is great!

It's Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Helen Mirren, and Karl Urban all in one movie, all kicking ass. If that isn't enough to convince you, then let me assure you: it's witty and wildly fun.

Here's hoping Byung Hun gets a good meaty part in RED 2~

I haven't seen the first one either but I'm crossing my fingers for more half naked (or naked) Lee Byunghuns.

Excellent. I only saw him in a trailer where it seemed rather iffy, but I am pleasantly surprised.

i'm probably the only here who hated RED. too many cliched jokes coming from a mile away and they overdid it with ultra stylized action scenes.

glad that he's getting more projects though.
