- Firstly, please introduce yourself to us, including the role you take on in the group, your nickname and your charm point!
CNU: I am CNU, in charge of vocals and rap. I am of blood type A, and I take on the role of the mother in the group. This was first started by the other members, but living together I lock up the doors, and do the chores. I am also in charge of nagging at the members ㅋㅋ. I think it is because of these (I take on the role of the mother). My nickname is "bear". At first I thought, "Why a bear?" but recently I am convinced of it too. I look a little like a bear, and my personality is quite carefree. The body part I am most proud of are my shoulders. They are very wide.
- That's why there are many times where only CNU wears tank tops or sleeveless shirts!
CNU: That might be so ㅋㅋ And even though this seems weird coming out of my mouth, my smile! I'm proud it (laughs)
- Next up is Gongchan!
Gongchan: I am Gongchan, in charge of vocals. I am of blood type A. Maybe it's because I'm the youngest in the group the hyungs always say "he's so cute, just like a puppy", and hence I'm the baby in the group. My nickname is "Pororo", and the body part I have the most confidence in.... My face!
All the members: Oh~~~~~~ (All paying attention)
CNU: Well said!
- Then next up will be Jinyoung.
Jinyoung: I am leader Jinyoung, in charge of vocals. I am of blood type A, and I have the role of the father in the group. My nickname is "fox". I have confidence in songwriting.
- Where did you learn how to write songs?
Jinyoung: It is self-taught.
- What made you start making music?
Jinyoung: It might be because I love music, and as the start of B1A4's activites came closer, the passion for songwriting naturally came out.
- So you have created your own music.
Jinyoung: That's right. When we were creating our first Korean mini-album Let's Fly, I wanted to have a self-made song included in it. I was also thinking of what I can do for the group, and the answer came in the form of a self-made song.
CNU: As the leader, Jinyoung really understands all the members. The songs he writes matches us perfectly.
- So the songs that Jinyoung makes are representative of B1A4.
Jinyoung: But for our first full length album recently released in Korea, THE B1A4 I - IGNITION, not just me but the other members were also actively involved in writing, composing and editing of the songs. The passion of other members towards music is also shown.
- There is good coordination then. Next up is Baro.
Baro: In charge of rap, my name is Baro. I am the B in B1A4, with blood type B. The other members have the roles of the mother and father. It has never been specifically said but no doubt I am the child in the groupㅋㅋ I think Sandeul will say the exact thing.
Sandeul: Fuhahahahahaha.
- So in B1A4, both of them are the ones who joke around the most?
Jinyoung: That's right! Be it joking around or chattering, they are really noisy!ㅋㅋ
- Is that true?
Baro: (Sheepish smile) My nickname in the group is 'squirrel' (because when he talks, two front teeth appear behind his lips).
- Hahaha! You do look similarㅋㅋ
Baro: And the body part that I'm confident of are my thighs.
- And so, how does his thighs feel like?
Gongchan: As solid as a rock!
Baro: I won the gold medal in Korea's Idol Star Athletics Championships in the 50m dash with these rock-like thighs. Thank you to my thighsㅋㅋ
Sandeul: Yes yes! (raises hands) I also got a gold medal in the high jump category with my thighs!
- They really joke around a lot ㅋㅋ Baro also writes the rap parts to B1A4's songs right?
Baro: That's right.
Jinyoung: Baro is a person with an imaginative mind, so he comes up with a lot of original and creative ideas. With that he contributes to the growth of the group.
- And lastly, Sandeul.
Sandeul: I am Sandeul, in charge of being main vocals. My blood type is A. Please remember me as an octopus; the more you chew, the more tasty it becomes. Within the group, I am child number 2. My nickname is "duck", and that is where my confidence also is. I actually wanted to say that the body part I am most confident in is my face, but more importantly, I have confidence in my lips. As for my character... No matter where I am, I make the people around me happy, and energetic.
Baro: Sandeul's reactions are always exaggerated, just looking at them makes you entertained.
Jinyoung: Sandeul's hardwork towards his own goals are also not a joke. He always checks after he sings, and ask for comments in order to learn how to sing better.
CNU: Even though he works hard in his singing, he does not pay much attention to his body.
Jinyoung: He's working hard!
CNU: Is that so?ㅋㅋ
- We now know about the variety of characters of the 5 boys. Next, whenever someone speaks about B1A4, the impact of your fancy outfits is huge.
CNU: Many people remember us by our outfits.
Jinyoung: I will talk about the outfits we wore while promoting Beautiful Target in Korea. The main point is how there is a specific accessory that each person wears, and catches attention. B1A4's songs and live performance styles are very pop-like, so we think of our outfits matching that.
CNU: The outfits express the colors of B1A4 very well. We are a very bright and active group, so our outfits express that but at the same time is different enough to represent the individual characters of each member.
- Other than the outfits, B1A4 is also making music that shows their personalities.
All the members: Ah~
CNU: That is certainly correct. Not just music alone, we do hope that in future the (album) designs and music video concepts will also show the better side to B1A4.
- And finally, you will be making your major Japanese debut.
Jinyoung: Our debut single is Beautiful Target. It was originally a Korean song, but we'll be singing it with Japanese lyrics.
- We want to hear more about your music in the next interview. How are your feelings about your upcoming debut?
CNU: Dugeun dugeun.
Baro: We're looking forward to it.
