After undergoing vocal cord surgery the other week, Rainbow's main vocalist Hyun Young also had an accident while falling down a flight of stairs, fracturing her clavicle.
In a statement released by DSP, Hyun Young wishes to continue performing with Rainbow as to not hold them back. However, due to her vocal cord surgery, she is forced to lip-sync.
In other news, back on the 4th, Rainbow performed at SBS TV's Hope Social Responsibility Concert.

Poor Hyun Young, hope she gets better soon. Guess this means no comeback for a while though.

She isn't necessarily holding them back but she isn't exactly helping them out either. She can't sing and she has a broken clavicle. I'm pretty sure this would be a good time to give her the break she probably deserves. (but jesus, breaking your collar bones is one of the most painful things you can do to your body, next to breaking your femur bone)

Date: 2012-05-07 02:10 am (UTC)I think they all work best together when there are all 7 of them. I remember how disjointed they were when Jisook wasn't with them last year. Lol, they keep saying that all 7 colors are needed for a Rainbow to shine =')
Tho...if i was her I'd take some time off of work :P

Date: 2012-05-07 02:26 am (UTC)I think its ridiculous that ~she gets bored easily~ is the excuse, it's like okay, sit down for a few days/weeks and then come back refreshed, rather than push yourself and possibly having to go through breaking your clavicle again cause it didn't set right the first time around, or having a weirdly shaped one because it set weird.
Stuff like this isn't a joke, and I wish kpop idols would realize that you CAN stand out and still be present. You don't have to dance with a bad back, a knee or even a broken clavicle. lol I'm sorry, I get all ranty when it comes to kpop idols and their health 8D

Date: 2012-05-07 02:39 am (UTC)As a performer, i understand her feelings. I had to sit out cuz of an injury and it sucked so much. Even if I could stand on stage with everyone else, it was a little better. But alas, healing from it was most important in the end.
Also, i do think these performances are how they make most of their income as well. Probably a large part at least. For Rainbow, being a singer and idol is still a job and career, it doesn't own their whole lives. They don't make a ton of money from it, so even a little loss may be hard. I guess she might have felt well enough to perform. Looking at those fancams, she may have overestimated herself lol, so she might hold back a bit for now. Anyway, that's just my thought on it.

Date: 2012-05-07 02:27 am (UTC)How did I just discover this a couple hours ago?
Anyway, i do hope Hyun Young takes some time to rest. It feels so odd watching her lip-sync with a sling. I know she wants to be with the other girls, but i also want her to rest and recover. Both her conditions can take a while to heal.
The thing is the day after she performed with them at the 18th Kyungpook National Children’s Day Celebration too.

Date: 2012-05-07 04:25 am (UTC)Maybe DSP told her that if she does take a break, she wouldn't receive any of the money they're making from their current schedule.
Maybe they gave her an ultimatum, and she chose performing and getting payed.
I honestly don't know, I'm just throwing this idea in here.

Date: 2012-05-07 09:23 am (UTC)Could be that, but that's how most jobs work, you don't get payed if you don't go to work. It wouldn't make sense to pay her for the schedules if she wasn't performing, and she might have wanted to work. And I'm not sure if a paid sick leave would apply to a singer.

Date: 2012-05-07 10:36 am (UTC)Maybe she felt like putting up with the pain would be rewarding (financially) later on.
So I feel like it's quite different than your typical 9 - 5 job with a set salary that you get regularly.
