Kangta revealed his plans to establish a label of his own for the first time.
The reveal came at Mnet′s The Voice of Korea press roundtable held in Seoul on May 4, when Kangta said, "I want to found a label and produce a vocalist group outside of SM. I′ve already talked it over with President Lee Soo Man. My convictions deepened while participating in The Voice of Korea as a coach."
"More than 50 percent of my SM juniors are great singers, but they′re looked down upon because they′re idols. I want to produce a vocalist group that can sometimes perform in idol performances. I think their looks can also meet lower standards compared to the current SM standards," he added.
"This label will be another challenge for me and for SM. I was determined to set it up when the timing was right, but now that I′m in The Voice of Korea, I can see that the market is suffering and everyone′s interests have gone on to something else. It′s been five years since I′ve been in a broadcast. I realized that I need to prepare even more perfectly. I don′t think it′ll be very long now [before it happens]."
Shin Seung Hoon, LeeSsang′s Gil and Baek Ji Young, the other coaches of the show, also attended the roundtable this day to talk about The Voice of Korea and their teams.
The May 4 live broadcast of The Voice of Korea had eight contestants battle against each other for a ticket to the finals. Four were eliminated, while four made it to the next round.

Date: 2012-05-05 10:15 pm (UTC)it is kinda sad, no matter how true, that he had to say this. hopefully SMe is smart enough to see that idols won't always be where the cash cow is for longevity of their company. ii hope he gets to do this label (and under the umbrella of SMe since they have the money) as a division within the company to where he could focus on nabbing talent outside of what is considered idols - diversifying the talent pool. it's smart. and deep down (although i know it won't happen) i want him to nab Piggy Dolls, cause they are AMAZING.
and he is seriously adorable.

Date: 2012-05-05 10:52 pm (UTC)I just don't get it. It makes me horribly sad knowing that basically most sment idols have written something of their own that will never come to light. :/

Date: 2012-05-06 12:06 am (UTC)Andante, Love U More, Y, A Short Journey, All My Heart, these songs are so great idek.
Yeah, it perplexes me completely. It's what's going to screw sment over at the end. I like my catchy pop music as much as the next person, even more in-fact, but yes, YYJ doing all their songs does get old, and tbh although I've nothing against buying music from other people, or remakes...why do it, when you have people under your own company to make it for you? I don't like the idea of Suju breaking up tbh, but I've always thought, that if there is one reason to do it, it's so they can finally have creative input into their music.
I feel as though sment are delusional as to what sell their idols to fans. :/ I mean, sment relies on two things 1)Talent, and 2) Personality. It's the reason why their groups run as long as they do, and why they have so many dedicated fan, because they tend to sell on personality aspects, but they won't be getting any new ones if sment doesn't improve them music wise. It's actually something I get very upset about if I think about it too much. Henry, Zhou Mi, Eunhyuk, Jonghyun etc. deserve so much more.

Date: 2012-05-06 02:20 am (UTC)those songs are even better than other SM songs nowadays
SM should make them more opportunities as their song writers...
together with the One Way's fellas (since I like I Wanna Love You and no matter how embarrassing Oppa Oppa is, I can't help but to dance and scream 'Oppa' to that song, lol)

Date: 2012-05-05 11:26 pm (UTC)Even the international fans wil bla bla on how vocally talented they are but wouldn't spent their money on them. Well, this is the truth that nobody can deny. Just look at the ever talented ~V.O.S~ -- they basically can dance and have mind-blowing vocal abilities with looks but not that many people want to spent money on their stuffs no matter how amazing their music are. :/

Date: 2012-05-06 01:19 am (UTC)Kangta is a well respected singer with lots of old and young fans- sometimes you have to take chances and I actually have a lot of faith in him and I hope he puts out a group.

Date: 2012-05-06 01:58 am (UTC)What my previous comment meant is that if Kangta decided to put make a vocally talented idol group, they probably gonna sing the likes of song that V.O.S or Monday Kiz? going to sing and that kind of group wouldn't make it big in Korea. Just look at BtoB, they are consider as an idol group that is vocally talented and can dance but look at their popularity among rookies idol groups that debuted this year -- it is just disappointing despite they are great at lives and actually sing good songs. The only (in my opinion) vocally talented idol group that make it big is DBSK but it actually helps that the members are good looking & all.
I know Kangta is a very respected singer since I'm one of his biggest fans (I actually kept many of his live performances since he really great at lives even until now). But I don't want him to put out a group that he worked so hard only to be disappointed with the end result. But it's nice if he actually try -- I will support it without a doubt. :D

Date: 2012-05-06 04:04 am (UTC)Maybe he's comfortable with the EunHae duo. It could explain why he hasn't had a proper solo for the past Super Shows.
lol hard to say for KRY, they have been vocally sustaining SuJu for quite a while, so it's not like they have been that neglected. Kyu had his musical, Wookie seems busy with his radio program. Idk what's Yesung up to tho.

Date: 2012-05-06 05:05 am (UTC)all people hear are the singles, and KRY has never had an official single out before
i just think that it's about time that they do get one.
i can appreciate their solo activities now, but i think they should receive more attention for their singing as a trio.
yesung takes a lot of selcas and watches a lot of movies :[

Date: 2012-05-06 06:14 am (UTC)Hm, h should thank his beloved agency for that "they're looked down upon", because imho it was them and other similar agencies who made that "idol craze" and "idol factoring" system in the first place... Good luck to him overcoming this shadow behind him now :/
