The 'brand-name' stars of 'Dr.Jin': a fierce war over screen time!

The main actors of MBC's new weekend drama 'Dr.Jin' are at war of screen-time.

After 'Feast of the Gods', 'Dr.Jin' will have its first airing on May 26th. In the original Japanese manga, Song Seunghun's character leads the drama alone but in 'Dr.Jin', Kim Jaejoong and Lee Bumsoo's characters are more interesting. Kim Jaejoong will play Kim Kyungtak, a naval officer of Joseon Dynasty and Lee Bumsoo will play Lee Haeung, a soldier of fortune who is known as Heungseon Daewongun.

The drama will have more various characters than the original but the problem is that all the three male leads were even 'one-top' in other drama (one-top: actor/actress who take the leading role, who is responsible for the overall flow of the drama/movie), it's not easy to regulate the screen-time. In addition, Park Minyoung will also play a dual role, which makes the screen-time war become fiercer.

An official explained, "Normally, if a drama has four male and female leading roles, only two of them are highlighted but in 'Dr.Jin', all four roles are equally important.This is an invisible fight for the actors in order to highlight their characters. We can't focus on just one of them."

Another related person said, "Park Minyoung, Song Seunghun and Kim Jaejoong will form a triangle love. Although the love-line focuses on these three, I think Lee Bumsoo's character also has a very large proportion."

I still don't know if I like what they are doing with this drama. I will always be comparing it to the original...*sigh* but I'm going to try to watch it anyway.

I like the Japanese Jin a lot too, and I'm pissed that they chose to talk about the romance line more than the doctor/historical line. But I understand why they have to change a lot of it. They have to change it to Korean history. Joseon era is not like Shogunate/Edo era. But they still have a historical figure in it (Lee Bum Soo character) so I'm intrigued in how they play this out according to Korean history. The selling point of JPN Jin is that somehow, they interwove it with JPN history.

what?! Park Minyoung will play Nokaze? I thought that was reserved for Kim Soyeon? I thought PMY will play Saki? but since they're changing a few things in the storyline, we'll see.. watching this for Lee Bum Soo..

Park Min Young is playing Saki. The story in Dr. Jin is different from the JPN version. Though it follows the modern doctor going back to history era. The reason why they have to change because it has to fit with History of Korea. Thus, the characters are mostly different, with one historical character in it, that is Lee Bum Soo character. Lee So Yeon will play the role of Nokaze.

changing the setting to fit korea aside, i see foresee major key plot points being butchered. and a love triangle is the focus, yes. i like lee bum soo and the original manga, but jaejoong's ~exceptional~ acting and changes that will surely happen? dnw.

NOOOOOO. Why Park Min Young as Saki? I have nothing against her but she always managed to annoy me with each of her dramas and Saki just supposed to be pure and lovable. Why they didn't cast Moon Chae Won or Han Ji Min or Han Hyo Joo? JUST WHY? This drama will never suppress the Japanese version esp when we all know they gonna focus on the love aspect of the story instead of political or medical aspect of the drama.

Sorry, I don't think I'm gonna watch this. >.< Too disappointed with the casts to begin with. ;_;
