BoA sheds tears during her judge review of Park Jimin's performance on SBS "K-Pop Star"

BoA's tears during the recent SBS "K-Pop Star" broadcast has surprised viewers. On April 22nd, one of the Top 3 contestants, Park Jimin, performed "You Raise Me Up" on the latest broadcast of "SBS K-Pop Star."

During her performance, Park Jimin seemed to be at her peak of emotions and was seen crying. After listening and watching her stage, BoA was the first judge up for commentary and said, "Park Jimin is 16 years old right? When I was 16, I went to Japan alone," and began to shed tears.

BoA continued, "It was really hard for me. And I hated hearing, 'it's because she's BoA.' 'You can do anything because you're BoA,' 'it's not a problem for you because you're BoA.' While those words were encouraging, I still hated hearing them."

She followed up with, "Jimin, I think you get it too. 'Jimin can always do it because she's Jimin.' I felt sorry when I was watching your stage, you cried emotionally. But I was so proud of you when you kept going until the end."

Netizens commented, "I can imagine she's been through a lot. I empathized with BoA when she cried," "Seeing BoA's tears warmed my heart."

Meanwhile, Baek Ahyeon was eliminated from the competition, leaving Park Jimin and Lee Hayi as the finalists of "K-POP Star."

while somewhat on topic, i was kind of disappointed to see ah yeon eliminated, as she had my favorite voice. however her stage presence pales in comparison to hayi and jimin, so i can see why she went. it's going to be so crazy next week.

this broke my heart a little, as well as i found it comforting... idk how to explain this but.. like the way boa put it 'there will be times where you are going to hate being you' is something we all can relate to and all of this. how boa can relate to jimin, and although their circumstances are different - to be able to draw that connection about what pressure does to you she just did after jimins performance is just as beautiful as jimins voice. i teared a little ngl ::___:;

Despite being well-meant, I can understand how phrases like "You can do anything because you're BoA" and "It's not a problem for you because you're BoA" could have become burdensome for her. She was just a kid, but so many people expected so much from her, and at times it felt like a given to do so. Well, she's BoA, of course she's going to do well. If she's done this much already, why can't she do more? After all, she's BoA. But it must have been so stressful and overwhelming as the person who had to deliver and live up to everyone's expectations. I can't imagine how much pressure she must have felt at such a young age.

THIS. She's really really strong for enduring all those things at such a young age. I remember when I was young and I saw BoA, I originally thought she was Japanese because all I heard from her are Japanese songs. At age 16 and being in Japan by herself. wow. DB5K have been there, but they got the better end of the stick cos at least they have each other then, but BoA... I feel for her.

At the end of the day, she's still a normal girl/woman who feels pressured in living up to everyone'svery high expectations of her.
