Donghae and Eunhyuk to release song in Taiwan

Subunit duo Donghae and Eunhyuk from Super Junior will release a single for their Taiwanese fans on Friday.

"Oppa, Oppa," which made its debut while the group was on their "Super Show 4" tour, became an instant hit, prompting a Korean release back in December followed by a Japanese release on April 4.

The album to be released in Taiwan consists of the title track and a song written by Donghae, "First Love."

As well as being well received in Korea, the song also reached the No. 2 spot on the Oricon daily chart in Japan on the day of its release. Due to the popularity of the retro dance song overseas, the duo decided to treat their Taiwanese fans.

The Korean boy band is immensely popular in Taiwan, with its fifth album "Mr. Simple" maintaining the No. 1 spot for 34 consecutive weeks on the Taiwanese music chart KKBOX Chart. Super Junior’s previous album, "Beauty," also did well, as it stayed in the top spot for 63 weeks.

Meanwhile, Super Junior will hold concerts in Indonesia from Friday to Sunday and then in Japan from May 12 to 13.

So agree. Not that I don't like Oppa Oppa, it's a fun song and all, but "This is Love" is AMAZING. Just the fact that he co-composed it with Chance, sings it in Mandarin AND it features Henry, it's just all sorts of win. And that Skip Beat album is seriously underrated, there are some great songs aside from SJM's and Donghae's. Zhoumi's song is gorgeous, I wish they would promote it more. He wrote a fantastic song.

Though in Taiwan, it does seem like they're still loving "Oppa Oppa" ... and then add on Hae's popularity in Taiwan/China ... no wonder SM's milking it.

I'm waiting for SJM's comeback album too, enough with the EPs dammit.

I Donghae was going to get a solo album or both of them become a duo..I would rather it had been done seriously, and them taken seriously...reather than this crackish bullshit.

"First Love" will be in Japanese for the Taiwanese release. No word yet on whether "Oppa Oppa" will be in Korean, Japanese or Mandarin. And to the OP, "Oppa Oppa" charted 2nd for the weekly charts too, not just daily. As well, when non-Japanese artists chart Top 10 on the Oricon (be it daily or weekly), it's considered a HUGE feat, idk why it's anything to sneer at. Show Luo's Dante charting at Top 5 for Daily and Top 10 for weekly was considered impressive considering he was the first Taiwanese pop idol to do so.

I like the song and it's fun to sing, but I rather they focus on Donghae's other self-composed songs like "Beautiful" or my current fave, "This is Love" off the Skip Beat OST. Seriously, he has the tout to release a mandarin solo album, I'm sure he's written a lot of songs on his own. His compositions are underrated. And my bb plays the piano, he needs to do this live:



But, I ain't gonna lie, even if SM's milking it, if it means I get to see my bias a bit more on Taiwanese shows, the better.

I didn't check the charts so I had no idea how the single did on Oricon weekly charts. But #02 on daily chart is not a huge thing, non-Japanese artists or not. Korea makes it a big deal. What matters is the sales numbers. One can get #02 on daily chart with shitty sales numbers.

Agree, but sales for "Oppa Oppa" in Japan has been pretty good no? Even if they're in 2nd place? I think the first day was 42,000 copies and then for the week was around 68,000 copies. IDK, to me, for a "mini" album with just two songs (max "four songs") the sales number isn't something to be ashamed of, especially since it's only a subunit with just two members? I dunno the usual figures when it comes to sales numbers for k-pop artists on the Oricon charts *shrugs*
