Nintendo is launching the 3DS handheld console in South Korea just over a year after it was made available everywhere else.
While the original 3DS launch didn't exactly pack a ton of great games, this one comes with just three: Super Mario 3D Land, Tekken 3D Prime Edition and the weirdly named Nicola Magazine Model Stylish Audition 2. However this latter title is only confirmed by Siliconera and there doesn't appear to be much in the way of information about the game anywhere else.
During the 28th April launch, South Korean gamers will be able to pick up a 3DS in one of three colours: Cosmo Black, Cobalt Blue and Misty Pink. The price for the handheld is expected to be 220,000 Won, which equates to just over £120.
Nintendo will be launching several more titles over the course of the year, including: Mario Kart 7, Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, Star Fox 3D, Nintendogs + Cats and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, in 3D.
That's a lot of strong selling titles, especially the ones from big franchises like Mario and Zelda. The 3DS' launch in the rest of the world was mired by poor sales. Nintendo initially held off releasing its own first party games in order to allow other developers to pick up the usual initial boon of game purchases with the release of a new console. However, the slack was never picked up, leaving Nintendo to rush in its own games as soon as possible. Once Mario Kart and Mario 3D Land hit the shelves though, the 3DS console began being picked up in droves.
