The idol trio JYJ, recently launched their official Japanese website for their fans in the country.

With intense responses, the website went down due to extreme traffic that was bombarding the site since it has opened.

It is well documented that JYJ is blacklisted from all major music shows and events and to still receive such loyal support is an impressive feat.

In a recent report, it tells that JYJ not only received banishment from media outlets but from product manufacturers as well.

In a recent tweet by hans_shop, it told a story by a former factory employee.

There’s a sad news. I thought I’ll be able to talk about it freely here.. Among my friends, there’s someone who produced idol’s official goods, and when asked why don’t they make JYJ’s goods and why JYJ’s goods are limited, it turns out that among Korean’s goods maker, JYJ is banned.. Once (a company) worked with JYJ, they won’t be offered contracts from other major companies. It’s shocking that it’s not only SM, even other major companies also do the same. So none of the manufacturer could do anything, thus JYJ’s goods become rare items since the manufacturing is difficult due to the vicious cycle (of banning companies), that’s why the other day’s collection card was sold at a high price.. Under this type of bullying (?) in the entertainment world is the worst environment, yet they didn’t lose their popularity and still walked on their own path, I really respect them for that.

It makes my blood boil to know that the cockblock is still going stubbornly strong up till today, but it's nice to know that they are still receiving tons of support! TEAM JYJ :D

Not surprised. Go to any idol shop in Japan (even if the production of goods is banned) and you will find tons of JYJ stuff. Quite often right by HoMin and other SME artists

I'm really disgusted how other companies have joined SM in their ban. Then again I'm not surprised considering how most of them are part of KMP Holdings as well as United Asia Management with SM.

Not at all surprised at the cockblocking, I mean all of us already know about it. I dunno, but when I went to Seoul late last year, JYJ merch (well unofficial) are still everywhere. And their Nature Republic endorsement helped a lot, sad they didn't continue it. It was, though, hard to find Jaejoong socks which kinda pissed me. lol

By taking preventative measures to block JYJ at every turn, doesn't it just prove more that the companies are actually fearful that they'll be successful? Just sayin'. :/

and by making it a "rarities" or hard-to-find item, will make the fans more curious and more vigilant. Anyone who actually dare to produce JYJ collectibles and sell them at high prize will score a fortune, imo :P

They are.. And they afraid that JYJ will be set an example for other idols that they can 'demand' things for the company. The power is soo unbalanced between the idols and the company right now.
Look at T-Ara, they ask for better working environment and they face a risk for being replace due to lazyness :((

I mean, I understand that's how pop idol companies work (South Park did a parody in 2000), but usually the companies don't go after the artists long after they've departed, they just assume that without their management, the artists have no future. That the stations won't play them even after witnessing JYJ's buying power and fanbase just seems foolish.

They weigh their options. Support JYJ...or risk losing access to all SM entertainment artist and idols. Along with some other idols from other companies who support SM. The block will always win...people are thinking about surviving. I saw a tweet from someone who works in the modeling industry, and she said that SM was also not letting their models/actors work with any companies that use JYJ as endorsers.

But it was not affecting their industry so much..since SME doesn't have that big a influence in modeling or acting. Which is why the boys can be in drama and still get CF's and such.

Ah, I see. But even so if SM is going out of their way to blacklist companies who are working with JYJ then they do perceive them as threats/hold a grudge, which is just unprofessional. Idk, I wish South Korea had more comprehensive laws on retaliation. :/

They are thinking of their business. Not really a grudge. They are doing this so other don't follow in the footsteps of JYJ. Basically saying...this is what will happen to you. You need us to survive in this business. So don't think about getting out of contracts and sueing, etc

That is all this is about. Scare tactics. Business. Kpop only works because the Idols know their place, and just do what their companies tell them. That is now the money is made. You have to make sure they are constantly reminded and punish those that get out of line.

This is plainly ridiculous. Aren't these companies supposed to prioritize profit in the name of good ol' capitalism? These guys still have a ton of fans, and fans with purchase power.

u dont even see them, tho. idols with their kind of popularity should be visible, should be able to have their songs chart. but they dont

how could an industry blacklist NOT be true?

NO, someone from the modeling industry said the same thing...that any companies that use JYJ as endorsers...SM was not having their models work with them. This is known.

The ban is ridiculous but the fans support is great..

Only JYJ that can pull a last minute concert announcement place in Japan because they don't want to risk it being cancelled again, and the tickets still sold out.
Meanwhile, I can't wait for new JYJ album. They had new and sophisticated studio and this time they hired a producer to do it.

I really wonder what this next album is going to be like. Steven Lee made some of my absolute favorite SS501 songs (and almost all their solo songs) and Malik Yusef said he's working with JYJ on this album too...

I feel like it's going to be a good one.

OK, can someone help me out, here. I am a newbie to the K pop scene. I am a newbie TVXQ JYJ fan. Didn`t they leave SM. Is the lawsuit still going on Is that why SM is doing this to them.
Honestly, this so immature!!!

Date: 2012-04-13 01:17 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] liaison-alley.livejournal.com
It's really complicated, but to put it as simply as possible... the lawsuit is still ongoing. Taking forever with no end in sight.
Even though JYJ were granted 'freedom' to do activities outside of SM, they are still technically under contract with SM. Originally it was a good thing, because it was the court's way of making a compromise... don't split up the group, but give these three guys freedom to do other stuff. Peachy.

But SM wasn't cool with that, so they stopped all TVXQ activities as 5. While there is this one contractual tether between JYJ and SM, that is their only connection. They get zero benefits from the company. They might as well not be in the company at all. SM has used the contract to their advantage, doing everything they can to stop JYJ from working both inside and outside the company for as long as possible.

Until a final court decision is made to void or not void JYJ's contracts with SM... this kind of thing will continue. It's likely that SM's goal is for this to last until JYJ has to start their military service. I don't know. It's all ridiculous.
