Mr. Jang, head of Jun Jin’s agency Open World Entertainment, has sent shockwaves through the scene after his arrest. Everyone probably felt the shock, but those who are the most sensitive on the matter are those officials who currently work in management. Many managers are saying that the incident shows how one fish can mud the water for many.
One official said, “I’m sorry that because of the despicable acts of a few managers, those managers who work hard on foot are also getting fingers pointed at them. Everyone is especially dumbfounded that Jang, who was the senior advisor of the Young Producers’ Association, has been involved in a rape case. They’re sad and heavy at heart that managers may be treated like social evils.” Another manager also said, “My girlfriend’s family wasn’t happy with my manager job now that our marriage is coming up, and I’m at a loss how something like this could happen.”Jang didn’t have a very good reputation even before the incident among managers, as he was rumored to be the man behind Kara’s disbandment issue. This is why many say that “it was something that would happen sooner or later.” Jang has admitted to a part of his charges, but even if he receives a jail sentence, he may continue working in management after his release. CEO Kim, who was involved in the Jang Ja Yeon incident, is also still active as a manger. America and Japan have their agencies approved beforehand, but because Korean managers just need to send in applications, managers with criminal records can’t be sifted out. Another rep from the Corea Entertainment Management Association said, “The association has a point policy, but because many managers in charge of singers aren’t with the association, there’s no real way to curb them. I’m sorry that the image [of the Koran wave] has been harmed by such a sad incident.”Jang’s legal defendant, the law firm Cheongrim, has stated through press releases that it would ‘take legal measures against the libel and obstruction of work caused by the press’ false and exaggerated reports’.

Date: 2012-04-12 10:25 am (UTC)Firstly; Everyone probably felt the shock, but those who are the most sensitive on the matter are those officials who currently work in management.
Really? Not the victims? Not the victims family? But the managers? Okay, of course, poor, poor men who work their yet never really noticed the sexual abuse happening under their noses. /Right.
Secondly; Jang didn’t have a very good reputation even before the incident among managers, as he was rumored to be the man behind Kara’s disbandment issue. This is why many say that “it was something that would happen sooner or later.”
Clearly you did now this guy was some-type of ass, but continued working with him. Okay.
Thirdly; I’m sorry that the image [of the Koran wave] has been harmed by such a sad incident.
You're not fucking special with the sexual abuse in the entertainment industry Korea, so the Hallyu wave shouldn't even be a priority right now, but if international intention is what it takes to get you to do something about this bullshit, then so be it.
Finally; ”Jang’s legal defendant, the law firm Cheongrim, has stated through press releases that it would ‘take legal measures against the libel and obstruction of work caused by the press’ false and exaggerated reports’.
Fuck you, and die for using you position of power, authority, and at some-point trust to abuse people who only wanted a chance at having their dreams come true. Fuck you, for doing anything at all. The devil only knows how many people you truly assaulted, and hurt.
I also don't believe for a second that these managers weren't just turning a blind eye to all of this. They should get punishment too.

Date: 2012-04-12 10:36 am (UTC)If only they can be punished as well. But at these kind of cases, and the bad history of how sexual harassment cases were handled in the industry, I wouldn't be holding my breath for it. The best thing that I can hope to happen is if Jang got a severe punishment from this and won't be able to work at the industry (or everywhere else near underage kids) ever again.

Date: 2012-04-12 12:08 pm (UTC)But seriously, why the hell would you let someone work with (often underaged) idols WITHOUT A BACKGROUND CHECK? How the actual hell would a man convicted of rape and sexual assault be able to GO BACK to working as a manager?

Date: 2012-04-12 02:00 pm (UTC)its as I thought, the whole thing about exaggerating numbers, they obviously don't get that even one case is wrong. Cannot believe that saying its only six is what they are going with...
and ‘take legal measures against the libel and obstruction of work caused by the press’ false and exaggerated reports’.
yeah that sounds like the most appropriate course of action at this specific moment in time

Date: 2012-04-15 09:55 pm (UTC)this this all of this. Here you pretty much need to have proof that you've never been in contact with the law for anything even close to the work you'll be doing and the people you'll be working with. Doesn't seem all that unnecessary, to be real honest.
I hate that bad stuff apparently always needs to happen before precautions will be made to prevent them from happening again in the future.
