JYJ to hold a large-scale fan fair!
2012-04-05 06:10 pmJYJ will be holding their first ever large-scale international fan fair!
The group’s management agency, C-JeS Entertainment, released the following statement on April 5th: “JYJ will be holding their 2012 Membership Week for 4 days starting on June 28th in SETEC at Hak Yeo Ul station.”
This international fan fair is something put together specifically for the fans, and will take place after JYJ concludes their World Tour.
The representative went on, “This large-scale fan meeting has been specially created for members who will have an opportunity to see, hear, and experience everything related to JYJ through various events. This will be the first time a fan exhibition of this size will be attempted in Korea.”
The format for the fan fair is described as diverse. Not only will JYJ’s promotions and activities be explained in detail, JYJ’s photo books will be on display, and there will be a corner for JYJ’s preferred foods, as well as rides and other fun things to help fans create special memories with their favorite K-Pop group.
A multimedia display of encouraging messages from fans overseas will also be in place, as well as a Fan Art competition, a design contest corner, a display of gifts given to JYJ by fans, JYJ’s ‘trick art’, as well as sticker picture machines.
C-JeS Entertainment continued, “We also plan on holding a dance cover festival with teams competing from different continents. C-JeS Entertainment plans to invite the top dance teams from each country after a pre-screening process. All expenses will be paid by C-JeS Entertainment.”
C-JeS Entertainment representative Baek Chang Joo remarked, “JYJ fans aren’t limited to Korea or Asia. Because they have an extremely broad fan base, the desires of the fans are also very different. This fan exhibition will be diverse enough to fulfill all the requests by all their fans, all at once.”
“Because this fan fair will not be for profit, we will not be sell MD goods and the fan meeting will also be free of charge,” he continued. ”We are holding the festival as our way of giving back to the fans who’ve cheered on JYJ until now, and it’ll be an event where everyone will be able to clearly see JYJ’s global popularity and fan power.”
The JYJ members commented, “We’re so happy and excited that we’ll be spending 4 days with our fans at this festival. We’ll be sending our ideas for the fan fair whenever we have time, and be actively participating in the planning process in hopes of making our fans that much happier. We hope that through this event, we will be able to return all the support and love our fans have always given us.”

Hope it ends well, but I have doubt on how the fans will act during the event.

Date: 2012-04-05 05:02 pm (UTC)Of course, bad things can happen everywhere, but I guess it's more likely that something happens at a fan fair, where JYJ will be close enough to the fans so that they could actually physical harm each other, than at a concert where JYJ is up on stage and the audience is further away.
I'm not saying that bad things will happen, I just hope that they will take precautions.

Date: 2012-04-05 05:09 pm (UTC)And I wasn't talking about during a concert but before.
Just look at the sales going on before a concert/fanmeeting (maybe not in Korea, but at least in China), it's basically thousands of fans gathered at the same place and wandering around.

Date: 2012-04-05 04:47 pm (UTC)I know that they're working on a new English album, but personally I would prefer some new Korean songs!
I thought they left SM, because they wanted more freedom when it comes to making music. Now they have their freedom, but don't do much with it.
I know that they can't promote their stuff, but their albums still sell like crazy, so this shouldn't be the problem!

I would say that is a lot.

Date: 2012-04-05 05:45 pm (UTC)well, I personally wait for Chun to write something really great and amazing as Love Bye Love or Kiss The Baby Sky, but overall I think as composers they are still lacking..
more freedom when it comes to music was not the main problem in their leaving SM though.. the main problem was that both sides lost trust to each other..

Date: 2012-04-05 08:50 pm (UTC)Well most of the songs on their Korean album were written by them. They're making the music they want to make and not going out and buying all of their singles like most idol groups do. They're really putting in a personal effort. We can't expect them to constantly be putting out new songs when they're working like that. Jaejoong regularly talks about how he's composing new songs. Even while they're doing solo work, they're putting material together. We just can't expect it on such a regular basis like when they were with SM.
As for their 2nd English album... I agree that I'd prefer to to hear more Korean songs but they're still trying to build up their global audience using English songs....I'm just hoping we don't get another Ayyy Girl -_-

Date: 2012-04-05 10:12 pm (UTC)industry peeps have got to realize that there's a root for the sasaeng-cray, like crazycrazy fanservice. companies have GOT to rethink their strategies and think carefully about who they're affecting, the artists and fans that're at potential harm here. the artists/fans don't really profit from this in a healthy way - it's just a way to capitalize upon and expand this sick system we've got here in Korea.

Date: 2012-04-06 12:16 am (UTC)What people don't understand is that the relationship between C-JeS and JYJ isn't like normal Korean entertainment companies.
C-JeS is JYJ's management companies. JYJ hired C-JeS, not the other way around. Because JYJ cannot hold an exclusive contract with another company while the lawsuit with SM is still ongoing, they're not signed under C-JeS by normal entertainment company standards.
Meaning, it's C-JeS's job to get JYJ jobs and PR roles (such as UNAIDS or Nuclear Security Summit ambassador positions). However, it's JYJ that ultimately has the final say in all activities that they do.
Basically C-JeS acts like managers do for US artists, meaning that JYJ could potentially drop C-JeS anytime that they want just as American artists can drop their managers.
So saying that C-JeS is playing into the typical Korean entertainment system doesn't really work for this case.Whether this move is for PR after the sasaeng incident, for publicity (as an 'in your face, JYJ still has hallyu power even with cockblocky SM'), or just because it's something random JYJ wanted to do, it's not really a move made by a management company with the intention of exploiting their artists.
