Yep. They do things like this, and radio shows, and they also have/had a variety show for the army tv network. Even Hyun Bin who wanted to be a marine ended up switching to the Entertainment division. I get the feeling that celebrities are kind of pressured to switch regardless of what they really want to do. People in the entertainment division also do other things. A while ago when Korea had really bad flooding Lee Jun-Ki and other members were spotted cleaning up debris. They already have certain talents that they've developed over years, so why not use those talents? It's not that different from 2AM's Changmin singing for the Army Band when he was in the army.
Well, I think the Entertainment division is actually new or it was expanded recently, because I know in the past celebrities had to do what everyone else did. Maybe it's just better publicity for the military if these celebrities don't look like they're suffering or having a hard time. I know the military in SK has had some pretty bad press over the years.
what kind of bad press? do you know? I kind of wonder what the military in SK is like, esp knowing how terrible the US military can be I feel a sense of general distrust to any and all militaries.
I've read that the hazing is really bad. Seniors basically treat their juniors like trash. When they first start out there's some sort of rule about how they can't do anything at all without the permission of one of their seniors. They even have to go to the bathroom with someone else. There have been lots of suicides. One soldier killed three other people even after a psychologist that he visited said that he was not mentally well and should not be around any sorts of weapons. But of course the army didn't do shit about it.
Terrifying. I suspect that does quite a number on alot of korean men. 2 years of that? Yikes. I suspect that's the one good thing about being a woman in korea.

I know if I was a celebrity I would jump at the chance to sing and dance or act over like lugging heavy artillery and trekking in the jungle. and really is there anything more unflattering than camo?
Lots of celebs have been assigned to the entertainment division regardless of whether they wanted active service or not. Rain, Lee Junki, Joo Jihoon, Lee Dongwook, Lee Donggun, Boom, Tony An, Hyun Bin, etc. Lee Junki, in particular, served as the army's PR guy from the get-go. His job was to go around the country and speak about the army. Then he got assigned to do a musical with Joo Jihoon.
That smile at the start of Hip Song *_* Good to see that a lot of people were singing along, though I wish they hadn't drowned out the sound of the crowd completely. It'd have been nice to hear the fan chants.
