Rookie idol year B1A4 has made their ambitious comeback with the release of their first full-length album IGNITION. Even though they have yet to debut for a year, a self-made song by a member in the group has been decided to be the title song, earning them the title of “musical-dols”.
B1A4; a group of young men in their early 20s have shown the essence of what cheerful energy is. Neverending firm determination and refreshing laughter are what makes them significantly different of the idol groups of the same age group. Causing huge numbers of female students to gather at broadcast stations, those are the reasons why they are emerging as the new rising idol group.
Their title song this time “Baby I’m Sorry” is personally created by Jinyoung, who has been self-taught composing since middle school. The song was first heard by the members, then recommended to the company to be title song.
“Before this, I made two tracks that made it into our albums. I am really happy that this time, it become our title song. But it is not just my credit, but the members all participated in the composing, writing and editing in general. We once said that we wanted to show our capabilities, and release a full-length album. We were upset with the biased judgements of being an idol group.” (Jinyoung)
Standing out with his bright voice, Jinyoung spreads his positive energy to the group. Even with the pressure of being alongside a variety of other idol groups, they can proudly say that “B1A4 will do well”. The reason for such a guarantee is of course, their musical capabilities.
“When you hear the songs that Jinyoung hyung writes, you get the feeling that he wrote it so that it would match our tones. His lyrics are also fresh and bright, showing that he lived well as a 22 year-old young man. In real life, that’s how his personality is like. He gives his strength, with his constant smiles while saying that everything will turn out well. The members also work really hard. In our previous promotions, we only showed our cute sides. This time, we are trying to reinvent ourselves as mature men, and more than anything we paid more attention towards the music.” (Baro)
The second reason why they are different from others is because of teamwork. All the members were born in the provinces, and there is a friendly atmosphere.
“Ever since we were trainees, we frequently heard that when people become famous they change. We have been careful of that. Amongst us, Sandeul who has changed the most received a contract even before we debuted. (laugh)” (CNU)
“Our team’s atmosphere makes a person be a loss for words. Compared to a very positive Jinyoung hyung, CNU hyung is more realistic. They balance each other out. There is no way we can fight either. We take some time out on Saturdays to chat together. If there are some problems, we talk it out from midnight till 9am the next morning. At first we get angry, but eventually there is no more strength to be angry. (laugh).” (Sandeul)
B1A4’s goal is to achieve first place on a music program this year. In order to achieve this goal, they are ready to run without resting.
“Every year we set new goals. This year, we really want to achieve first place. As our mindsets are all positive, we believe that everything will turn out well. (laugh) We will work really hard. Please watch us!” (Jinyoung)

Though, I do think they will win their first #1 this year. Their popularity keeps increasing.
